Aaron Jones Going For MRI On Monday

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hip) left the Week 5 win over the New York Jets in London in the first half with a right-hip injury and is undergoing an MRI exam on Monday to determine the extent of his injury. Jones was ruled out pretty quickly after he departed Sunday's game. For what it's worthy, head coach Kevin O'Connell said after the game he thought Jones' injury would be a short-term one. And with the Vikings having a bye in Week 6, there's a good chance Minnesota will have Jones back for a Week 7 tilt with the division-rival Detroit Lions. Before getting hurt, the 29-year-old played 16 offensive snaps and had seven carries for 29 yards while adding a 24-yard catch. We'll keep a close eye on Jones' status coming out of the bye week, but if he's forced to miss additional time coming out of next week's bye, Ty Chandler figures to be in line for lead-back duties for the Vikings in Week 7.

Jordan Mason With No Touchdowns, Big Fumble In Week 5

San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason had his least productive fantasy day of 2024 in a 24-23 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. He finished with a season-low 14 carries for 89 yards on the ground with no touchdowns and a game-changing fourth-quarter lost fumble. He caught his only target in the passing game for nine yards. On a day that featured record-setting heat at Levi's Stadium, Mason also ceded five carries to rookie Isaac Guerendo, which matches Guerendo's season high. With no firm timetable for the return of All-Pro Christian McCaffrey (Achilles), Mason will continue to operate as San Francisco's bell cow and a fantasy RB1 in a Week 6 Thursday night matchup at the Seattle Seahawks.

Aaron Jones Won't Return In Week 5

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hip) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the New York Jets in London. He suffered the injury during the first half and was unable to re-enter the contest. The television broadcast showed a camera angle of Jones limping on the sideline while expressing discomfort and frustration when he tried to run. He finished Sunday's contest with seven carries for 29 yards on the ground, as well as a 24-yard reception. If there's any good news here, it's that the Vikings conveniently have a Week 6 bye, meaning Jones will have a full 14 days to recover before his next game. In the interim, Ty Chandler will lead the Minnesota backfield. Chandler figures to operate as a mid-range fantasy RB2 in the Vikings' productive offense.

Aaron Jones Questionable To Return In Week 5

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hip) is questionable to return for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the New York Jets. The veteran back suffered a hip injury during the second quarter of their matchup in London. The assumption is that Jones will be held out until halftime to be further evaluated. In the meantime, Ty Chandler figures to take over as the primary back with Myles Gaskin getting mixed in as well. Jones rushed seven times for 29 yards with one reception for 24 yards before exiting the contest.

Jordan Mason A Must-Start In Week 5

San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason will look to keep it rolling when the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The former undrafted Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket was fantastic last week, taking 24 carries for 123 yards rushing and a touchdown. He also caught two of three targets for 37 yards receiving. Mason's production this year has been a godsend for fantasy managers who scooped him up early. Through four weeks, Mason is the overall RB5 in half-PPR points per game. His matchup in Week 5 is favorable. Arizona has allowed the fifth-most points to opposing running backs this year at 17.9 points per game. Perhaps Mason cedes some action to rookie Isaac Guerendo in this one with near 100-degree temperatures predicted in Santa Clara, which would easily be a Levi's Stadium record. Nevertheless, Mason is as good a play at RB as there is this week. He's a top-shelf RB1 against a porous Arizona run defense.
