All aboard who’s going aboard! In most fantasy football leagues, this is the last week of the regular season. It may be your last chance to earn relevant fantasy play in the last month of the season, so getting your final roster just right is of the utmost importance. For a lot of people, that meant spending their entire FAAB budget on Isaac Guerendo with San Francisco sending the rest of the team’s running back room to injured reserve. If you’re one of the lucky few who picked him up, great! If not, well, here are some other options that may be lurking on the waiver wire for free in your league.
Reminder: This list was put together in the lead-in to Week 14, looking forward to the players who could be popular waiver wire targets ahead of Week 15. If you have a roster spot to play with, these are free agent options you could grab early to beat the waiver buzz.
All of these players are below 50% rostership on one of ESPN or Yahoo unless otherwise specified.
Quarterbacks
Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (28%/15%)
Reason: High Risk, High Reward
Time Frame: Rest of Season
The Jameis Winston roller coaster has hit some pretty crazy highs the past couple of weeks. Since taking over as starter in Week 8, Winston has three of the 40 highest fantasy days for a quarterback, including Monday’s near-500-yard performance against a tough Denver defense. If you’re still scrounging around for a quarterback this late in the season, Winston is the best guy readily available by a wide margin. Three of his next four games are against below-average fantasy defenses, with the Raiders, Cowboys and Panthers during championship week still coming up. We all know Winston is capable of some hair-tearingly frustrating games at times, but his upside is off the charts and the schedule favors him. Ride him to victory.
