Tommy Tremble Questionable For Week 2

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (hamstring, back) is listed as questionable ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Tremble sat out in Week 1 and hasn't practiced in full all week with only limited sessions thus far. Despite that, head coach Dave Canales says Tremble is expected to suit up this weekend. His return would take away snaps from rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders who played over 70 percent of the snaps in Week 1. The Panthers offense looked atrocious in the season opener, so even a healthy Tremble would still be a shaky fantasy option.

Tommy Tremble Stays Limited On Thursday

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (hamstring/back) put in another limited practice on Thursday, marking his second day in a row with that designation. The Notre Dame product did not practice at all last week with hamstring and back injuries, so he's in a better spot to potentially play in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 24-year-old has not cracked the 200-yard mark in a single season and has just 548 receiving yards through his first 49 career games. That said, he's far from the fantasy radar, especially as a part of arguably the worst offense in the NFL led by former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young.

Rico Dowdle Needs To Improve Efficiency In Week 2

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle was involved in the team's game plan in Week 1 against the Browns but will need to improve his efficiency before becoming a fantasy player worth starting in most leagues. Dowdle saw eight carries for 26 yards in Week 1 as he alternated drives with starter Ezekiel Elliott. He did add one catch for six yards. Dowdle's 3.3 yards per carry leaves something to be desired although his usage was somewhat encouraging for his standalone value. In Week 2, expect Elliott to be the featured goal-line back. Dowdle could once again see some game time but he will need to do more with his opportunities to become fantasy-relevant. Fantasy managers with options at the position would be wise to take a wait-and-see approach with Dowdle in Week 2.

Tommy Tremble Limited At Practice

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (hamstring, back) was back at the team's practice on Wednesday after missing Week 1 due to injury. He was out on the field with his teammates during warm-ups and was officially limited in his return. Tremble will look to suit up for his first action of 2024 this Sunday when Carolina hosts the Los Angeles Chargers in their home opener. The Panthers got molly-whopped by the New Orleans Saints this past Sunday 47-10, and in Tremble's stead, rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders caught one pass on one target for just four yards. The team looked lost in Week 1, and although Tremble seemingly has a good chance of suiting up this week, it is too difficult to project him for a viable fantasy workload. It's early, and Carolina will likely work out its offense over the coming weeks. Still, Tremble can be firmly off fantasy managers' radars.

Rico Dowdle Quiet In Season Opener

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle didn't have the best start to his 2024 season. The 26-year-old was expected to split up the touches with veteran Ezekiel Elliott during Sunday's season opener. The two of them did split up the carries, but Dowdle failed to do much with them. He rushed eight times for 26 yards while hauling in one reception for six yards in the blowout win. Elliott didn't do much better on the ground with 40 yards, but he was able to find the end zone. The expectation is that these two will continue to split up the job until one of them pulls away with it. That being said, Dowdle should still have some streaming value in Week 2, but he has lost some appeal after that lackluster start.
