Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee (shoulder) is going to have his next scheduled start pushed back a few days due to shoulder tightness, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic. Bibee was originally scheduled to take the mound on Saturday afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles but now will cede duties to Joey Cantillo. Bibee has enjoyed a great sophomore season as he has posted a strong 3.48 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 31:132 BB:K ratio. In his last start, he logged six innings of two-run ball against the Tigers. This injury does not seem significant, as the right-hander looks poised to return to the bump sometime next week. Cantillo should be faded in DFS competitions on Saturday as he will face the high-powered Baltimore Orioles and he did not fare well against the Phillies last week.
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (knee) is penciled in as the team's probable starter for Monday's contest against the hosting division-rival Detroit Tigers. Bibee dealt with some cramping in his right knee in his most recent start against the Tigers on Wednesday, but it obviously isn't a serious enough issue to keep him from taking his next turn in Cleveland's rotation. The 25-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Cal State Fullerton gave up just one earned run in five innings while walking one and striking out four on Wednesday against Detroit and should be rolled out in starting fantasy lineups again on Monday. Bibee has been solid for the Guards in his second year in the big leagues in 2024, going 8-4 with a 3.50 ERA (3.40 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with 130 strikeouts and only 31 free passes issued in 115 2/3 innings over his 21 starts.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee (cramps) left Wednesday night's start against the division-rival Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field due to apparent cramping. Bibee was rolling against Detroit before departing on Wednesday, giving up one run on two hits (one home run) with four strikeouts and one walk in five innings. He was about to warm up for the sixth with just 67 pitches on his ledger when he appeared to cramp up as he came onto the field. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, one that shouldn't prevent Bibee from being able to make his next scheduled appearance on Monday against these same Tigers at Comerica Park. The 25-year-old star right-hander has been great for the Guardians and fantasy managers in 2024, most recently delivering a 2.68 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 43 strikeouts and 11 walks over his latest 40 1/3 frames (seven starts).
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee put together a strong outing at Progressive Field on Friday, tallying three strikeouts through 5 2/3 scoreless innings during his first start of the second half against the visiting San Diego Padres. Bibee secured his eighth win of the year on Friday against San Diego, scattering two hits and three walks during a scoreless performance. The 25-year-old right-hander will get a favorable matchup on paper when he takes a 3.58 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 126:30 K:BB over 110 2/3 innings (20 starts) into his next scheduled start at home against the division-rival Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. However, Bibee surprisingly has a 6.86 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in four appearances in his career against the Tigers.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee will open the second half at Progressive Field to start Friday's series opener against the visiting San Diego Padres. Bibee didn't have a great start to the year for the Guardians, but he's registered a strong 3.06 ERA with 79 strikeouts and 14 walks through his last 11 starts (64 2/3 innings). In four innings against the Padres last year, the 25-year-old right-hander did allow six runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts. This is a different Friars lineup that won't include Fernando Tatis Jr. (quadriceps) or Juan Soto this time around, however, so Bibee should be deployed with some confidence to start the action post-All-Star break on Friday night.
