Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is heading to the 10-day injured list with the hamstring injury that got him pulled from Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Kyle Manzardo is expected to be recalled as a corresponding move. It is an unfortunate injury for Kwan, as he has gotten off to a blistering start this season. The 26-year-old is slashing .353/.407/.496 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 28 runs scored and three stolen bases. Hopefully the ailment isn't overly severe and he can return in short order. Estevan Florial was batting leadoff for the Guardians on Sunday in Kwan's absence, but he is a fantasy afterthought at this point.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels after being removed from Saturday's win with left-hamstring tightness. With Kwan out, Will Brennan is starting in left field and is hitting fifth, while Estevan Florial is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Angels right-hander Griffin Canning. It's just the second time all year that Kwan hasn't been in Cleveland's lineup. We should have a better idea of the 26-year-old's availability moving forward after he undergoes an MRI exam on Sunday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's back in there for the series opener against the Detroit Tigers. Kwan has been one of the best hitters in baseball this year with a .353/.407/.496 slash line and .903 OPS, so losing him for an extended period of time would be a big blow to the Guardians and fantasy managers.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Sunday. Kwan initially injured his hamstring during Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels while trying to make a play in the outfield. "A hamstring is always concerning, especially with my history," said Kwan. "It's not something to be optimistic about." The Guardians will have a timetable and if an injured stint is needed once the MRI results are in. The 26-year-old is slashing .353/.407/.496 with three home runs and three stolen bases over 32 games in 2024. Gabriel Arias replaced Kwan in the game and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any time. Arias is on the radar in deep leagues after slashing .250/.271/.382 with a home run, nine runs, eight RBI, and three steals over 21 games this season.
There aren't many players seeing the ball as well as Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan right now, as he picked up three hits in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Astros, raising his season average to .360 and extending his personal hitting streak to seven games. During the hit streak, the 26-year-old is 11-for-28 (.393) with a double, two triples, a home run, four RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base. He's also walked three times and remarkably hasn't struck out even once. His Contact% of 93.1% for the season is tops in the majors for players with at least 100 plate appearances, and with three home runs on the year, he is on pace to set a new personal best with the lefty's six home runs in 2022 his current career high.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with two runs and a walk in Tuesday's victory against the Boston Red Sox. The leadoff hitter for the Guardians raised his batting average to an astounding .372 with the strong effort. All three hits were singles, but a hit is a hit. Kwan has been scorching hot with his bat this season, but 25 of his 29 hits have been singles with two doubles and two homers. He also only has three walks on the season for an OBP of .395. With ability to only reach base when he is hitting the ball well, his ceiling is limited, but at the same time he is an asset when he is in the groove of things as he currently is. Kwan could be a good sell-high candidate as he will eventually regress and doesn't offer much in other counting categories. He will look to stay hot on Tuesday versus Tanner Houck and the Red Sox.
