Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds continued the torrid start to his MLB career, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 10-6 win over the Marlins. The 23-year-old also scored twice and was hit by a pitch. It has been a historic start to Hinds' career, now with 11 hits over his first six games in the majors, nine of which have gone for extra bases, including three doubles, a triple, and five home runs. He's also chipped in a pair of stolen bases. The former second-round draft pick will carry a .500-5-11-7-2 line into Sunday's matchup where the Reds will face lefty Trevor Rogers who is 1-9 with a 4.82 ERA and 1.59 WHIP.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds continued the historic start to his major-league career in Friday night's win over the visiting Miami Marlins, hitting his first career grand slam. Hinds crushed his first career grand slam off Marlins right-hander Yonny Chirinos to right-center field, giving the Reds a 7-0 lead in the third inning. The 23-year-old slugging right fielder may only be ranked as Cincy's 15th prospect for 2024, but he's made a massive impact in his short time with the big club by going 9-for-19 (.474) with three round-trippers, three doubles, eight RBI, and two stolen bases over just five outings. Showing shades of Aristides Aquino's legendary start with the Reds once upon a time, Hinds is worth riding in all fantasy leagues until the wheels falls off and this outfield gets healthier.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds has wasted no time making an impression in his first two big-league games, putting his power on display in Tuesday's 12-6 win over the Rockies. Hinds fell a single shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a solo home run, two RBI, and two strikeouts. The 23-year-old obliterated a seventh-inning Justin Lawrence offering, launching it halfway into the left-field upper deck. Hinds has five extra-base hits in his first two games in the big leagues, which is the most by a player since at least 1901. Hinds has shown power and speed throughout his minor-league career, but he was hitting just .216 with Triple-A Louisville before getting called up. He is certainly worth keeping an eye on, but fantasy managers may want to see more than two games before getting too excited.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds had a memorable big-league debut in Monday's 6-0 win over the Rockies. Batting eighth, Hinds went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run. He also made a sliding catch. The 23-year-old obliterated an eighth-inning Tyler Kinley offering, sending it 449 feet into the left-center seats for the second-longest HR by a player making his MLB debut in the Statcast era. While his debut was exciting, Hinds was only slashing .216/.290/.409 with Triple-A Louisville before getting the call, so fantasy managers may want to wait to see a bit more before deciding to take further interest in him.
The Cincinnati Reds recalled outfield prospect Rece Hinds and right-hander Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Monday and placed outfielder Stuart Fairchild (spine) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 7) with a spine-disc injury in a corresponding move. The Reds also optioned right-hander Graham Ashcraft to Louisville and outrighted infielder/outfielder Levi Jordan to Louisville after he cleared waivers. Hinds, the team's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make big-league debut on Monday, playing right field and batting eighth against Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner. The 23-year-old hit 13 home runs and had 12 steals for Louisville, but he also hit just .216/.290/.409 with a 38.4% strikeout rate in 77 games, so he's most likely a short-term option for the Reds with most of their outfield regulars banged up at the moment.
