Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias needed only nine pitches to record his 15th save of the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Oakland A's. Iglesias rebounded after allowing an earned run on Friday, only the third earned run he allowed in May. Though he has just 16 strikeouts in his 22 1/3 innings, Iglesias' 2.42 ERA and 0.99 WHIP assure fantasy owners that he will continue to be a reliable source of saves as the Braves look to chase down the Phillies in the National League East.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias picked up his 13th save of the season in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Nationals. Iglesias entered the game to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two and delivered a 1-2-3 performance with two strikeouts. The 34-year-old has been pretty much what fantasy managers were expecting this season, converting all but two save opportunities with a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 innings pitched. His 7.08 K/9 rate is a dip from his career average, which may be due to a lack of chases and swings-and-misses. However, fantasy managers will live with that as long as Iglesias continues to anchor the end of games for one of baseball's better teams.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias finished off the division-rival New York Mets to preserve Friday's win, but he allowed one run on one hit and one walk before gaining the save in the ninth inning. Starling Marte walked before Pete Alonso singled him in later in the frame, and J.D. Martinez just missed a game-tying home run that was fouled off during the final at-bat of the game before flying out. Despite Iglesias' shaky outing, he's been one of fantasy's most bankable closers with a 2.35 ERA and 1.04 WHIP while fanning 10, walking four, and converting 10 of his 12 save opportunities over 15 1/3 innings for the Braves this season. The 34-year-old right-hander should remain a reliable option for saves for the remainder of the season.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias picked up his ninth save of the season in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox. Iglesias came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two and shut the door with a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The 34-year-old veteran has not racked up the strikeouts fantasy managers would expect but has converted all but two save opportunities with a 1.88 ERA. He should continue to serve as a higher-end fantasy option in his current role with a great offense supporting him.
Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias converted his seventh save of the season in Monday's 3-0 win over the Marlins. Iglesias came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The 34-year-old veteran has converted all of his save opportunities with a 2.16 ERA, a 6.48 K/9 rate, and a 1.08 BB/9 rate. The strikeouts have been down, but Iglesias should continue to be a higher-end fantasy option serving as the closer on one of baseball's best teams.
