Seattle Mariners superstar outfielder Julio Rodriguez (undisclosed) departed the game early on Saturday afternoon. No reason was immediately given by the team for his early exit. It should be noted that Rodriguez did seem to injure himself on Thursday while catching a fly ball in the game that day, and he seemed to be favoring his wrist or thumb at that time. Luke Raley replaced Rodriguez in center field Saturday, and Ty France replaced Raley at first base. Rodriguez has struggled a bit at the plate in his third season, hitting .247 with eight home runs, 30 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 40 runs scored. Check back for more information on Rodriguez's injury.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez had a nice game on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a double and a homer in a 7-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Rodriguez also scored two runs, drove in one, and stole a base in a solid overall game for the 23-year-old. Unfortunately, those games have been few and far between this year, and the consensus first-round pick in fantasy hasn't come close to living up to expectations. His .247 AVG, 39 runs, eight homers, and 30 RBI are all pacing well below his 2023 totals, with only his 18 steals redeeming him. Rodriguez should pick it up in the second half, and this might be the start of it. The buy-low window might now close after one good game for J-Rod, but a few good ones would do it, so now is the time to make some offers to his owner.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez has been dropped to seventh in the batting order on Tuesday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. The 23-year-old Dominican outfielder has fallen flat in his third season in the big leagues in 2024 after winning American League Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 and being named to the AL All-Star team in each of his first two seasons. He's currently slashing a disappointing .247/.297/.327 with only a .625 OPS, seven home runs, six doubles, 29 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 96 strikeouts in 360 plate appearances over 85 games played. J-Rod's lack of power has been hard to explain, and he's gone just 2-for-29 (.069) with two walks and six strikeouts in his last seven games, hence the drop down the order in Seattle.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored during Sunday's 9-5 win over the Washington Nationals. He also stole two bases in the breakout performance. The 23-year-old was a fantasy darling last season but struggled mightily at the plate to start 2024. He has performed better as of late and today's production is hopefully a sign of things to come. Rodriguez is now slashing .260/.306/.340 with four homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 54 games. He still possesses immense upside even with the inconsistent output.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez has been dropped to the sixth spot in the batting order on Thursday in the Bronx against the New York Yankees and right-hander Luis Gil. It's the first time all year that Rodriguez has not been in either the leadoff spot or the two-hole for the Mariners after he went 1-for-12 in the first three games of the series in New York against the Yankees. The 23-year-old All-Star has been one of the bigger disappointments in baseball so far in 2024 and is currently slashing .263/.311/.318 with only two home runs, 14 RBI, nine stolen bases and 19 runs scored in 198 at-bats. The good news is that even after going 1-for-12 in this series, J-Rod has been better in May with a .272 average (22-for-81) with a homer, three RBI and two steals. Shortstop J.P. Crawford is hitting leadoff on Thursday, with second baseman Dylan Moore in the two-hole against Gil.
