New York Mets designated hitter Jesse Winker put the Mets on the board early on Wednesday, blasting a first-inning grand slam in a game the Mets would go on to win 8-3 over the Red Sox. It was Winker's only hit in the contest, going 1-for-3 and getting on base via walk once as well. The 31-year-old has been fairly productive since coming over from the Nationals, slashing .306/.341/.471 in 91 plate appearances. For the year, he owns a .268-14-58-63-14 line with a .349 wOBA and 126 wRC+. With a strong OBP of .368 on the year thanks to a 12.3% BB%, if Winker can continue to get on base, it should be more fruitful for fantasy in the Mets offense that is putting up 4.79 runs/game (seventh-best) compared to the Nationals' offense that is putting up 4.20 runs/game (bottom-third).
New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker was called upon to come off the bench in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 30-year-old delivered for his team as Winker blasted a pinch-hit game-winning solo home run off right-hander Seranthony Dominguez. This blasted marked Winker's 12th homer of the season and his first since joining the Mets roster. The former first-round pick is having a resurgence at the plate in 2024. He's hitting .262 with 12 long balls and 49 RBI in 119 games between the Washington Nationals and Mets this season. There are certainly some fantasy managers in deep formats that could use the help of Winker.
The New York Mets are finalizing a deal that would bring in outfielder Jesse Winker from the Washington Nationals. The trade is contingent upon all of the players involved to pass a physical. Winker would presumably provide outfield depth as they already have Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil patrolling the corner outfield spots that Winker is accustomed to playing, but he could also spell J.D. Martinez at designated hitter. The 30-year-old is having a solid year to this point, posting a .257-11-45-51-14 line with a .350 wOBA and 127 wRC+, which would look even better if not for a poor-hitting month of May.
Washington Nationals DH Jesse Winker had a big game in his team's 5-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Winker went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, and two RBI to help power his team to the win. The veteran is putting together a solid first season with the Nats, hitting .264 with 18 doubles, 11 homers, 47 runs, 43 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. The steals have been a pleasant surprise as he had just three steals in his career coming into 2024. Winker has worked his way into the conversation as a solid fantasy option this year.
The Washington Nationals are holding out second baseman Luis Garcia and outfielder Jesse Winker on Tuesday against the division-rival New York Mets with left-hander Sean Manaea on the mound in D.C. Ildemaro Vargas will start at the keystone and bat fifth, while Harold Ramirez will draw into the lineup at DH and bat third for the Nats. Also, top outfield prospect James Wood is making his second career start in left field and will hit sixth in the order. Garcia has hit just .180 (9-for-50) with none of his seven home runs this year against southpaws, but he's the teams regular second baseman against righties. Winker has had a bounce-back campaign with the Nats this year with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases in 81 games played. With Wood now in the fold in Washington, Winker should see more time as the DH.
