Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ came up big on Sunday, going 1-for-3 with two walks, three RBI, and two steals in a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Happ also threw out the would-be tying run at second base in the seventh inning to kill a Reds rally. The 29-year-old has been mostly disappointing after a strong 2023, but maybe a big game like this can point him in the right direction. He has just a .222 AVG with 31 runs, six homers, 30 RBI, and five steals on the season, and has become a points-league specialist at this point.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ played his part offensively in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox. Happ went 3-for-4 with a single, two doubles, two RBI, and a strikeout. This included a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning to bring in what would be the winning run. The 29-year-old has had a disappointing fantasy season overall and has yet to find a rhythm, slashing .232/.335/.394 with six home runs, 26 RBI, and two stolen bases in 236 plate appearances. While outfield has been a relatively weak position for fantasy this season, fantasy managers can likely find useful alternatives on the waiver wire in shallower leagues at this time.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 2-for-3 with two big flies in a 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night. Happ collected all three of the Cubs RBI's on Sunday and almost single-handedly brought them back after they went down 4-0 early. The 29-year-old doubled his season total with his third and fourth homers, which goes to show how poorly his season has gone to this point. The sorely needed long balls don't mean Happ is for sure back, but it is a good sign and should be a reason for fantasy managers who haven't dropped him to hold on for at least another week.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ is out of the lineup on Saturday for the Cubs' tilt against the St. Louis Cardinals. Happ was also out of Chicago's lineup for last night's game before it got postponed. This is likely to simply be scheduled time off for the 29-year-old along with the fact that, with a healthy outfield, the Cubs have a bit of a logjam between Happ, Suzuki, Bellinger and a resurgent Tauchman. Happ had gone 4-11 in his last three games with three doubles so there shouldn't be any injury concerns here, rather just a mix of rest and the Cubs having a plethora of outfielders. Mike Tauchman will start in left field while Christopher Morel will start at DH. Expect Happ to make a return on Sunday against Cardinals pitcher Sonny Gray.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (hamstring) is back in left field and is hitting second for the Cubs on Tuesday against the visiting Houston Astros and right-hander J.P. France. Happ tweaked his hamstring last Friday and sat out Saturday and Sunday. But after the team's scheduled off day on Monday, the 29-year-old switch-hitter is ready to return to Chicago's starting lineup. Happ will be looking to bust out of a recent slump that has seen him record just four hits in his last 35 at-bats now that he's healthy again. Overall this year, he's hitting .240/.352/.360 with a home run, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in his first 75 at-bats. In his two career at-bats against France, Happ has two hits and an RBI.
