Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (shoulder) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The switch-hitter injured his shoulder while running into the wall during Saturday's game. It's believed to be a minor issue that will hopefully only force Happ to miss one game. In his absence, Mike Tauchman will bat sixth and play left field versus right-hander Miles Mikolas. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ piled up three hits and three runs scored in Wednesday night's win over the hosting Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, walloping his 17th home run of the year in the blowout victory. The Cincinnati product crushed a two-run homer to straightaway center field off Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo, extending the Cubs' lead to 8-3 in the sixth inning on Wednesday. It was a much-needed rebound effort for Chicago's left fielder, who had been going through a dry spell at the dish lately but wraps up the month of July by slashing a respectable .253/.330/.516 with six big flies, six doubles, and 18 RBI in 91 at-bats for the Cubs. His batting average may fluctuate, but Happ remains a solid producer in fantasy overall.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ blasted a three-run homer Tuesday and picked up another run scored and a single in a 9-2 victory over the first-place Baltimore Orioles. The 29-year-old switch-hitter has been raking and driving in runs in July with a .417 batting average, three home runs, and 11 RBI in just seven games. Happ has always been a streaky hitter, and his .244 batting average and .358 on-base percentage are right in line with his career numbers, but this season, he's actually on pace to crack a new career-high in home runs and RBI. He will never be a super sexy player for fantasy baseball, but he does just enough to produce a little bit of everything to keep him worthy of a roster spot year in and year out.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ had a monster game on Thursday, smashing two homers in a 10-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Happ ended the day 4-for-4 with a pair of homers, two runs scored, and six RBI. The homers were both of the three-run variety and came in back-to-back innings, the fourth and fifth frames. Happ has been very good for the last month, but it has flown under the radar for the most part. He hit .244/.387/.500 with five homers, 20 RBI, and five steals in June in what was a very productive month. He is a stud in points leagues and has been very solid for a while now in categories leagues as well. He should be rostered in all leagues while he is this hot, and he is available in some shallow leagues right now.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ played hero on Saturday afternoon with a go-ahead two-run shot in the eighth inning to power the Cubs over their division rival Milwaukee Brewers. Happ broke a tie game with his 11th home run off the season off Brewer reliever Joel Payamps. This was Happ's second long ball in the past three games and fifth of the month. The everyday left fielder in the Northside now holds a .231/.346/.422 slash line with 44 RBI and a 44:88 BB:K ratio. He has posted an above-average 12.2% barrel rate and 43.1% hard-hit rate, which suggests this power surge could continue into the second half of the summer. Happ remains a more valuable fantasy asset in points leagues due to his stellar 13.3% walk rate.
