San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (toe) was listed as a non-participant on the team's estimated practice report on Wednesday. Kittle came out of the NFC Championship win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday with a minor toe injury, and head coach Kyle Shanahan called him day-to-day on Monday. The Niners will likely give Kittle some rest this week, but there's no reason why he shouldn't be ready to rock for the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 30-year-old led all tight ends in total yards during the regular season and has caught six passes (10 targets) for 108 yards and a touchdown in two playoff games leading into the Super Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (toe) is dealing with a toe issue and will be considered day-to-day as Super Bowl LVIII approaches in two weeks, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Kittle was on the field often in Sunday's win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship, but he apparently picked up a toe injury and disappointed fantasy managers with just two catches on three targets for 27 yards despite the Niners coming from behind to put up 34 points. The 30-year-old has plenty of time to rest his toe before the Super Bowl in Vegas, but we'll keep a close eye on his practice status. It would be a huge surprise if Kittle didn't suit up on Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 11, and he should be more involved in the passing game against a tough Chiefs defense.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is much happier than his fantasy managers after the team's comeback victory over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. The 30-year-old will be heading to Las Vegas in two weeks for a date with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl XLIII despite a subdued statistical performance. Kittle finished with two receptions on three targets for 27 yards. With a monster day in Baltimore on Sunday, Kansas City's Travis Kelce probably solidified his spot as the top Super Bowl fantasy option at tight end, but Kittle will bring plenty of juice to the matchup as well. Depending on the price, Kittle may be the better value of the two for DFS gamers in the rematch of Super Bowl LIV, as he looks to surpass the four-catch, 36-yard performance he posted four years ago.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel led the team in receiving but didn't score a touchdown during a 34-31 victory over the Detroit Lions for the NFC Championship on Sunday at Levi's Stadium. Samuel caught eight of nine targets for 89 yards through the air and carried the ball three times for seven yards rushing. Unlike teammate Brandon Aiyuk with his spectacular catch and subsequent touchdown, Samuel's signature moment in the comeback win is hard to pinpoint. But Samuel kept the chains moving, leading all 49ers in non-touchdown first downs with five. He also seemed to show no ill effects from a shoulder injury that forced him out of action in the Divisional Round against Green Bay and briefly threatened his availability for this one. Head coach Kyle Shanahan will now have two weeks to draw up some crafty plans for the versatile playmaker before the 49ers head to Las Vegas and Super Bowl LVIII.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was instrumental in the team's 34-31 NFC Championship comeback win versus the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Aiyuk provided the latest all-time moment for the 49ers -- a franchise with its fair share -- midway through the third quarter with a 51-yard diving reception off his opponent's face mask. He would light up Levi's Stadium three plays later with a six-yard touchdown reception to get the 49ers within a touchdown. Aiyuk finished with only one other catch for a combined total of 68 yards. The Pro Bowl snub will go to Las Vegas and confront Steve Spagnuolo's red-hot Kansas City Chiefs pass defense in Super Bowl LVIII.
