Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson will face off against the Saints in New Orleans in Week 3. The former Washington Commander had his chance to get more involved last week against Atlanta with A.J. Brown (hamstring) out but saw just one target and was outplayed by Britain Covey. That was also with Dotson on the field for 79% of the snaps. He has not clicked with quarterback Jalen Hurts just yet and should not be considered a fantasy option in any capacity this week against New Orleans, even with Brown expected to miss his second game in a row. He is better left on waivers in redraft leagues and on benches in dynasty formats.

The Penn State product, who came to the Eagles in an offseason trade with Washington, has just three targets in two games this season and is tough to trust moving forward even if Brown misses more time.

Star receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in Friday's practice and has the potential to either miss the game Monday or play at less than 100%. With no other real competition for targets behind him, Dotson could see an increase in snaps and routes run Monday night. He is not in serious consideration unless you are in a large league, but keep an eye on Dotson this week in case he proves that he needs to see more targets in the future.

The former Washington Commander was traded to the Eagles two weeks ago as the team was making its final roster transactions before the regular season, giving Philadelphia one of the strongest receiver trios in the league. With that said, Dotson does not hold a ton of fantasy value in redraft leagues heading into Week 1. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has never supported three fantasy relevant wide receivers in the past and while the addition of Dotson makes the offense even tougher to stop, the target share and overall involvement for the 24-year-old is not expected to make him a fantasy asset on a weekly basis. If anything were to happen to A.J. Brown of DeVonta Smith, Dotson will be a hot waiver addition, but until then he is little more than an emergency bench stash or can be left on the waiver wire. He is not a recommended fantasy option in Week 1 against the Packers.

The Washington Commanders are trading wide receiver Jahan Dotson and a fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks. This is one of the more surprising deals in recent memory, considering the two organizations are NFC East foes. Dotson was selected by Washington in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and racked up 35 receptions for 523 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 12 games. Despite playing in 17 games in 2023, he tallied just 518 yards and four touchdowns. There have been reports that Dotson was failing to secure the WR2 role in Washington this offseason, and his departure clears the way for Olamide Zaccheaus and rookie Luke McCaffrey to see more snaps than expected in 2024. Dotson's fantasy value was already declining, but now that he's behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the Philadelphia passing game, it would be a surprise if he sees a healthy amount of targets from Jalen Hurts.
