The Los Angeles Lakers aren't listing guardD'Angelo Russell (undisclosed) on their injury report for Thursday's meeting with the Denver Nuggets. Head coach Darvin Ham said on Wednesday that Russell was unable to practice after he received "tune-up" treatment, casting doubt on the guard's status, but Russell is good to go on Thursday. Though his name was swirling around trade rumors ahead of Thursday's deadline, Russell's recent hot streak may have driven up his stock to a point where the Lakers couldn't find any suitors for their asking price. Over his last 14 games, DLo is putting up 23.6 points, 6.5 assists, 4.1 threes on 46.3% shooting from deep, and 0.9 steals per contest. Although Russell is a must-start in season-long fantasy leagues right now, Thursday's matchup versus a Nuggets team yielding the fourth-fewest points per game (110.6) this season is a shy-away one for DFS purposes.
Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) has officially been diagnosed with a right mid-foot sprain, and the team doctors will re-evaluate his status in three to four weeks, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN. The 24-year-old sprained his foot in their contest against the Boston Celtics on Feb. 1. Some reports, before he was officially diagnosed, said he may miss the rest of the season. He at least has a timetable to check his status before then and has a chance to be back for the end of the season and a potential playoff run. In the meantime, Christian Wood and Rui Hachimura will likely see added time and could serve as streaming options in a pinch.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (ankle) has been listed as questionable again for their Monday night game against the Charlotte Hornets. While James was unable to play two games ago against the Boston Celtics, he played 40 minutes against the New York Knicks on Saturday. With a heavy workload in that game, the Lakers could decide to let him rest in this one against a weaker opponent. Anthony Davis (Achilles/hip) is also listed as questionable, however, so they may still need James on the floor. Fantasy managers will want to check back in for any updates as the game gets closer. If James can't suit up, Austin Reaves and Taurean Prince would see some heavy minutes while Rui Hachimura would get some more action too.
Los Angeles Lakers forward/center Anthony Davis (Achilles/hip) has been tagged as questionable for the team's contest against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. The superstar big man has been dealing with both a hip and Achilles issue for a while and has come up on the injury report as questionable many times. Fantasy managers will want to check back for updates after the team goes through their shootaround and warmups. Davis ended up playing a full 36 minutes in their last game against the New York Knicks which was an eight-point win where he posted a double-double with four blocks. If he's unable to play, then Jaxson Hayes would receive some extra playing time.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) is expected to be sidelined "at least" a few weeks. However, the team will continue to consult with specialists, and it remains possible that he could miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign. The 24-year-old is having a down season, currently averaging 5.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Unfortunately, he's had trouble staying on the floor and began the season by missing the first 20 games because of a heel injury. Yet, his most recent ailment, a foot injury suffered during Thursday's win over Boston, could mean the end of his season. At any rate, the Lakers may look to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline to fill the void. But if the team doesn't make a deal, Rui Hachimura and Christian Wood could fight for minutes moving ahead.
