Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) is out of Saturday's game due to a wrist injury. The 27-year-old was also kept out of yesterday's lineup. As a result, Ryan O'Hearn will cover first base and bat in the eight-hole. Even though Mountcastle is set to miss his second consecutive game, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day entering Sunday. Before the injury, the infielder was in a bit of a slump, with a .229 AVG in his previous 12 games. Overall, Mountcastle carries a solid .265/.305/.425 line with 13 long balls this summer. O'Hearn has been riding a strong .265 AVG since the start of the month but is best to leave out of your DFS lineup as he will face Houston southpaw Framber Valdez who has held a 1.27 ERA and a 0.56 WHIP in his past three outings.
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) is not in the starting lineup on Friday for the game at Camden Yards against the Houston Astros. This shouldn't come as a surprise to fantasy managers after Mountcastle was removed from Thursday's contest early due to wrist soreness. For now, the 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day. Check back on Saturday to see if he's able to return to the lineup. With Mountcastle on the bench on Friday, the left-handed-hitting Ryan O'Hearn will play first base and bat fifth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Any extended time missed by Mountcastle because of his wrist injury will result from more starts at first base for O'Hearn. He is hitting a strong .272 (93-for-342) with 12 home runs, 48 RBI and 50 runs scored in 110 games played. O'Hearn is two homers shy of tying his career-high.
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) was pulled from Thursday's 6-0 shutout loss against the Houston Astros early at Camden Yards due to a sore wrist, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Mountcastle went 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout in the contest before Ryan O'Hearn moved from right field to first base to replace him. The injury stemmed from when the 27-year-old dove head-first into second base in the second inning, but he stayed in the game until being replaced in the ninth. We'll have a better idea of how much time Mountcastle might be forced to miss after he undergoes tests on his wrist. At the very least, fantasy managers should expect him to be out for the second game of the series against Houston on Friday. If Mountcastle's injury is serious enough to put him on the injured list, O'Hearn would be in line for more starts at the cold corner in Baltimore.
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's contest against the Cleveland Guardians. This appears to be a routine rest day after Mountcastle played in eight straight games. He collected eight hits and nine RBI over that span of games. In his place, Eloy Jimenez will serve as the designated hitter while Ryan O'Hearn plays first base versus right-hander Gavin Williams. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the visiting San Diego Padres. Ryan O'Hearn will take his spot at first base and will bat cleanup for the struggling O's against Padres right-hander Michael King. O'Hearn is much more attractive in DFS against right-handed pitchers and has a home run and two RBI in three career at-bats against King. Although Mountcastle does have two multi-hit games since the All-Star break, overall he's gone 5-for-21 (.238) with no homers, a double, three RBI and seven strikeouts in six games since the Midsummer Classic. He's also homered just once in the month of July. The 27-year-old has been a decent source of power as a corner infielder in deep-mixed leagues with 12 bombs and 46 RBI in 94 games in 2024.
