Prior to the start of the second half of the season, the Oakland Athletics have optioned third baseman Armando Alvarez to Triple-A Las Vegas. The 30-year-old career minor leaguer made his big-league debut a few weeks ago and went 6-for-23 with one RBI during his stay. With Alvarez off to Las Vegas, the Athletics are set to promote their No. 1 prospect, shortstop Jacob Wilson. Wilson is worthy of a speculative add in all formats, while Alvarez can safely remain on the waiver wire.
