Ranger Suarez Lit Up For Six Runs

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez was hit around during Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. This was undoubtedly his worst start of the season as Suarez was hit around for nine hits and six earned runs in the no-decision. He only lasted 4 2/3 innings and didn't record a strikeout. It was an ugly outing but fantasy managers shouldn't worry too much. These kinds of outings happen, so expect Suarez to bounce back during his next time on the mound.

Ranger Suarez Tosses Ninth Quality Start In No-Decision

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez picked up his ninth quality start of the season in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Orioles. Suarez went six-and-two-thirds innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out six, but did not factor into the decision. The lefty now owns a 10-1 record with an impressive 1.77 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and a 21.8% K-BB% over 14 starts and has the second-best odds for the NL Cy Young Award, behind only teammate Zack Wheeler. His next start lines up with the Padres at home next Wednesday.

Ranger Suarez Improving, Will Throw Bullpen Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (hand) is doing better and will play catch on Tuesday before throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday. If he comes out of his bullpen on Wednesday no worse for wear, he'll be in play for the London series this weekend against the division-rival New York Mets. The 28-year-old southpaw only went two innings in his last start on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals and had to leave early after taking a line-drive comebacker off his left hand. The good news is that X-rays came back negative, so Suarez may not have to miss a start at all. With extra off days coming up, the Phillies could elect to play it safe and push Suarez back. Even though he'll be more of a risk in his next start coming off the injury, Suarez has been one of the best pitchers in the league in 2024. We're not going to recommend sitting a pitcher that's been as good as he has.
