Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) remained a limited participant during Thursday's practice session. The organization is hopeful that Spears can get back on the field this week after sitting out in Week 7. If healthy, Spears figures to continue being the primary backup to Tony Pollard. Spears has struggled with only one game with over 30 rushing yards this season. Pollard has taken over the bulk of the carries in the backfield which makes Spears a tough option to trust heading into a difficult matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was limited in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. Spears missed practice all week and did not suit up for the Week 7 loss against the Buffalo Bills, but his return to practice to kick off the week on Wednesday is a good sign for his potential return this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. There was some thought that Spears would have a bigger share of the backfield workload in 2024 alongside Tony Pollard, but that wasn't really the case in his first five games played. Spears has 33 rushing attempts for 114 yards (3.5 yards per carry) and one touchdown while adding 12 receptions for 76 yards. Spears figures to be the No. 2 behind Pollard as a change of pace if he returns to the field on Sunday, but he'll be nothing more than a low-upside RB3/flex in PPR formats.
Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said on Monday that running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) could return in Week 8 to face the Detroit Lions after missing the Week 7 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Spears' status for this Sunday's game will depend on how much he can do in practice this week. We'll have a better idea of the 23-year-old's status by Friday. If he's able to return this weekend, he'll resume his role as the No. 2 behind Tony Pollard in Tennessee's backfield. There was some uncertainty as to how the Titans would split touches in their backfield between Pollard and Spears to begin the season, and through the first six weeks of the season with Spears healthy, he took a clear back seat to Pollard. Spears has 33 total carries for 114 yards (3.5 yards per tote) and one touchdown while adding 12 catches for 76 yards. Spears will be a low-upside RB3/flex, at best, in PPR leagues in Week 8 if he's active.
Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of the Week 7 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. This comes as little surprise considering the team is calling Spears week-to-week right now after suffering a hamstring injury last week. The absence of Spears means that Tony Pollard is going to see the bulk of the carries this weekend. The increase in workload should put Pollard on the RB1 radar for this weekend. Pollard has rushed the ball 16 times or more in every game, but one this season. He might see 20 touches with the Titans shorthanded in the backfield.
Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was absent during Thursday's practice session. This should come as little surprise after head coach Brian Callahan said Spears is currently considered as week-to-week. Spears picked up a hamstring injury last week that looks like it's going to cost him a few games. He has missed the first two practices this week and seems pretty safe to consider out for the Week 7 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. His absence should mean an increased workload for Tony Pollard. Third string back Julius Chestnut could be mixed in more, but Pollard is going to gain the most fantasy value in the absence of Spears.
