New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill lined up all over the field in Sunday's blowout victory over the Carolina Panthers. Hill rushed the ball five times for 35 yards and was targeted twice, catching one pass for a yard. The veteran did not put together an impressive fantasy performance but will remain a dart-throw option at tight end in leagues that allow him to fill the tight end slot due to his touchdown upside. Hill and the Saints take on the Cowboys next Sunday in what will be a much tougher matchup than the Week 1 game.
New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill showed in the preseason that he again will be used in the Saints' offense, creating headaches for fantasy managers. Hill is a high-end TE2 in Week 1 against Carolina, whose porous rush defense may open up opportunities for Hill to find the endzone. He likely won't pay off without a touchdown but is a solid tight end flier if your team lacks one of the top options. Hill's red zone usage will determine if he can be a viable fantasy option after he finished as the TE10 a season ago.
New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill is expected to have a considerable role in the team's red-zone rushing game plan, as per Luke Johnson of NOLA.com. "Game speed is obviously different than practice speed, but the Saints' improved run game looks like it's applied to the red zone as well...and though we didn't see it Friday, Hill should continue to have a huge role in that area of the field." Hill is one of the more versatile NFL athletes in recent history, and though he is listed as a tight end, it appears he aims to take a good deal of work from the backfield this season. It will be interesting to see exactly how offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will deploy him in 2024, but since he is a member of the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, it wouldn't be surprising to see Hill used innovatively. He is Yahoo's TE19 in drafts and could provide great value if he has a rushing load like last year. The 34-year-old would become a more intriguing fantasy asset should he garner positional eligibility at running back.
New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill played early on in Sunday's preseason loss to San Francisco, lining up all over the field per usual. Hill plunged in a goal-line touchdown early while lining up as a running back. He carried the ball five times for 21 yards on the night with Alvin Kamara (back) and Kendre Miller (hamstring) absent, showing he could once again be a factor in fantasy football in 2024. Hill's last shot at preseason action will come Sunday against Tennessee.
The expectation is that New Orleans Saints super utility man Taysom Hill could play up to five positions this year -- fullback, running back, quarterback, tight end and wide receiver. It doesn't mean he'll play all those positions, but the Saints are keeping their options open. They want to get him traditional tailback/fullback work and they know he can line up out wide as a pass-catcher. The Saints value the unpredictability his versatility lends, and an offensive scheme change shouldn't alter that much. The 33-year-old is tight end-eligible in most fantasy formats, which makes him especially interesting, but mostly for his rushing prowess when the Saints line him up in the backfield. 2024 will likely be more of the same: Hill's boom performances will be extremely hard to predict given the unpredictable nature of his usage, making him more of a TE2 in fantasy.
