Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) remained out of practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. Walker suffered an oblique injury in the Week 1 over the Denver Broncos and is now firmly up in the air to suit up in Week 2 against the New England Patriots. His status for Sunday's game will ultimately come down to whether he can get back onto the practice field on Friday. Still, Walker could be questionable to be active in Week 2, so fantasy managers planning on starting him again this weekend need to formulate a backup plan. Backup Zach Charbonnet would become Seattle's lead back in a plus matchup if Walker is limited or out entirely. Charbonnet should be scooped up off the waiver wire if he's available and you're thin at the RB position. He is currently rostered in only 52% of Yahoo leagues.
Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) did not take part in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. Walker suffered an oblique injury in the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but luckily his injury forced him out of the game late and he was able to provide 20 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown before leaving. He also added two catches for six yards. The 23-year-old is considered day-to-day as of Wednesday, but his status for the Week 2 contest against the New England Patriots is very much up in the air. Walker is a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 if he's active as Seattle's lead back, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he carries a questionable tag into the weekend. If Walker doesn't get cleared to play, backup Zach Charbonnet would work as Seattle's starting RB. Charbonnet is rostered in only 51% of Yahoo leagues currently.
Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (abdomen) looked good on the field during the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Walker rushed for over 100 yards, but also picked up an injury in the fourth quarter. This doesn't sound like an injury that is going to sideline Walker for a lengthy amount of time. Head coach Mike Macdonald said on Monday that the team doesn't have much of an update on his status, but they're taking it day-by-day. Walker said he was fine after Sunday's game, but we'll see if the Seahawks limit him at all during practice this week. For now, fantasy managers should expect Walker to be fine in time for the Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (abdomen) looked good in Sunday's win over the Denver Broncos. He ran the ball 20 times, amassing 103 yards and a touchdown, adding two grabs for six yards. Unfortunately, Walker exited the game due to abdominal pain, so fantasy managers are obviously concerned. With that said, there should be an update on his condition soon. But barring a significant issue, he's a must-start when Seattle meets New England in Week 2.
Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III draws an excellent matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. The Broncos boasted the third-worst rushing defense in the NFL in 2023. The defense improved as the season progressed, but there is no reason to believe they will be able to hold Walker in check in Week 1. With the news that the Seahawks will be a run-first team in 2024, Walker could be in for a massive workload. Walker should have plenty of lanes to run through and plenty of opportunities for big plays against the Broncos. Additionally, the Seahawks offense should move the ball effectively in Week 1. As such, Walker should have several opportunities to score in the red zone. You can confidently start Walker as a high-end RB2 in Week 1. His ability to break off big plays and potential for touchdown opportunities gives him top-five upside in Week 1.
