Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was a limited participant during practice on Wednesday. While seeing the 26-year-old on the injury report in any capacity is not ideal, fantasy managers should find some relief in the fact that he did manage to get on the field for portions of practice to open Week 6. Mooney is coming off a big game in which he caught nine of 16 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns. While that type of production isn't sustainable given that Kirk Cousins won't eclipse 500 passing yards every week, there's no denying that Mooney's role is growing within the Atlanta offense. He should be treated as a WR3/FLEX option going forward.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught nine of 16 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns during Thursday's overtime win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was Kirk Cousins' most-targeted teammate as the quarterback attempted 58 passes for a franchise-record 509 yards through the air. Mooney delivered one of the best fantasy performances of his career, and he would've added even more points had he been able to catch a fourth-quarter pass that ultimately went through his hands and hit his chest. The 26-year-old seems to be enjoying a resurgence after leaving the Chicago Bears in free agency. Over his last four contests as a Falcon, Mooney is averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game. He ranks as an appealing WR3/FLEX for Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney is surprisingly the team's leading receiver after four weeks, and he'll look to maintain that position when the Falcons face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. Mooney has shown good chemistry with his quarterback, Kirk Cousins, and as a result, he is averaging six targets per game, hauling in 15 total for 225 yards and a touchdown. Mooney is firmly the team's No. 2 wide receiver, having earned 24 targets to lead receiver Drake London's 31. The 26-year-old will still have a role, and if Cousins can return to his 2023 ways, Mooney could have a solid day. Mooney is still a WR3/FLEX only in 14+ team leagues and looks to build on his production in 2024 in a tough matchup against the Bucs in Week 5.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney continues to see a steady diet of targets from quarterback Kirk Cousins as they took down the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The former Chicago Bear has now seen at least six targets in each of the last three games. In the two-point win over the Saints, Mooney caught three of his six targets for 56 yards, with the longest play going for 36 yards. He has been a solid medium-to-deep-threat this season, as his yards per reception are currently sitting at the highest mark of his career at 15.0. At times, it seems that Cousins trusts Mooney more than anyone else on the team, which is a surprising turn of events. Drake London saw 12 targets in this game, but Mooney has the second-most through four games with 24 compared to Ray-Ray McCloud III's 22, Kyle Pitts' 15, and Bijan Robinson's 16. Mooney and company will look to find the end zone through the air in a short week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught all eight of his targets for 66 yards in the team's 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Mooney led the team in catches on Sunday night, recording two more than Drake London on one fewer target and gaining one fewer yard. The 26-year-old kicked off the game's opening drive with back-to-back receptions for 35 yards on Atlanta's first two plays from scrimmage. He hauled in another short pass late in the first quarter before being held in check for the remainder of the first half. It was a valuable outing for the former Bear, though it's unlikely he was started in many fantasy leagues. He's the clear No. 2 option at wide receiver for the Falcons despite playing one fewer snap than Ray-Ray McCloud III's 58 in Week 3, and holds some WR3 value with upside while getting consistent targets. With Atlanta potentially down two offensive linemen, they may increase their pass rate when the team hosts their rival New Orleans Saints at home in a tough Week 4 matchup.
