Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney had a useful day in PPR formats in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks, nabbing five of eight targets for 46 yards. His 53 targets on the season are more than Terry McLaurin (49) and just two fewer than Stefon Diggs (55), so he clearly has value, but much of his fantasy production came in one blow-up game versus Tampa Bay in Week 5 when he tallied nine catches on a whopping 16 targets for 105 yards and two scores. That contest notwithstanding, the fifth-year pro is averaging four catches on six targets for 52 yards per game. The 26-year-old gets another shot at those same Bucs in Week 8, and while seeing his quarterback heave up 58 pass attempts again is not at all likely, if they try to shut down Drake London who torched them for 12-154-1 the last time out, Mooney and the other receivers would stand to benefit from his added attention.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney hauled in just three of five targets for 38 yards last week as the team leaned more on the ground attack in a game they basically controlled throughout. The fifth-year pro had garnered no less than six targets in the four weeks prior. This week's clash with the Seahawks figures to be more competitive and is anticipated to be a high-scoring affair, so should this game go back and forth, Mooney would stand to benefit. Drake London is the unquestioned first option, but Mooney has a higher yards per catch average than London (13.6 vs. 11.3), and with Seattle down their top two cornerbacks in this one, there may be little they can do to limit the receivers on the outside. Look for a big play or two from the 26-year-old wideout in Week 7 as he projects as a high-end WR3.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney caught three passes for 38 yards in Sunday's 38-20 victory over the Panthers. The wideout accumulated the second-most targets on the team with five, but with Atlanta's backfield racking up 200 yards on the ground along with three scores, the Falcons did not need to take to the air as much in this one. Mooney has a solid role as the No. 2 receiver in this offense, totaling 27 receptions, 368 yards, and three TDs on the season, and should continue to provide value in PPR formats in the weeks ahead despite the quiet outing. With a bout against Seattle in Week 7 that carries a 49.5 over/under, there should be plenty of offense and Mooney figures to be a WR3 for fantasy.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) was a full participant in Atlanta's final practice of the week and is a full-go for the team's Week 6 matchup on Sunday. Mooney started off the week with two limited sessions, but his status for the road tilt against the Carolina Panthers was never in doubt. The 26-year-old and the Falcons' offense have one of the more enticing fantasy matchups this week. Carolina has allowed the most passing touchdowns and second-most yards per pass attempt to opposing offenses. It's another opportunity for the former fifth-round pick to continue his streak of production, which has him sitting as the WR15 in PPR formats through the season's first five weeks. Mooney has had a strong beginning to his first season in Atlanta and should continue to be a solid third option at worst in the Falcons' passing attack. He'll be a WR3 with upside against the Panthers.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) put in a limited practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. If Mooney doesn't upgrade to a full practice on Friday, he could be listed on the Week 6 injury report as questionable to play this Sunday against the division-rival Carolina Panthers. However, there doesn't appear to be too much worry that the 26-year-old is in danger of missing this weekend's game after he went off for nine catches, 105 yards and two touchdowns in the Thursday night win over the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Mooney has surprisingly been the WR15 in half-PPR scoring through five weeks with 24 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns. With quarterback Kirk Cousins now looking more comfortable in this offense, Mooney's fantasy stock is on the rise and he should be considered an attractive WR2/3 in Week 6 against Carolina.
