Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield saw his 2023 season come to an end, but he went down swinging. Mayfield completed 26-of-41 passing attempts for 349 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. Mayfield and the Bucs' offense continued to fight until the end. They had a chance to tie the game on the final drive, but Mayfield threw an interception to end the comeback bid. Despite that, this season was a success for Mayfield and the Bucs. Mayfield came into the season competing for the starting quarterback gig. Now, Mayfield is looking for a multi-year deal after throwing for over 4,000 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions during the regular season. It sounds like there is mutual interest between the Bucs and Mayfield. It remains to be seen if the two sides will strike a deal this offseason.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield have mutual interest in him returning to the team for the 2024 season, and his emergence this season has led NFL teams to inquire about offensive coordinator Dave Canales. Mayfield signed a one-year, prove-it deal with Tampa for the 2023 campaign and had the best season of his career, throwing for a career-high 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 17 regular-season starts while leading the Bucs to a Divisional Round appearance on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Because of the strong season, Mayfield could cash in with a big QB contract, but the Buccaneers also have the option to use the franchise tag on him. He'll also receive $250,000 per playoff win, so he could become a lot richer on Sunday with a second straight playoff victory over Detroit.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (ribs, ankle) is good to go ahead of Sunday's playoff game against the Detroit Lions. Mayfield is coming into this game dealing with multiple nagging injuries, but appears ready to go. Last weekend, Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The biggest fear for fantasy managers is that Mayfield isn't at 100 percent health yet. He was able to get the job done against the shaky Eagles defense. However, Mayfield could have a tougher time finding success against the Lions this weekend. That being said, Mayfield will be a cheap DFS option, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect another 300-yard performance.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (ankle, ribs) was a full participant in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. Mayfield tweaked his ankle in the Week 18 regular season finale but played in Monday night's wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles and had a great game, going 22-for-36 for 337 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The tough 28-year-old signal-caller won't have any issues being ready to suit for the Divisional Round contest in Detroit against the Lions on Sunday, and he'll be an interesting low-cost DFS sleeper at the QB position for the second straight week in another friendly matchup in the dome in Detroit. In the game against the Lions way back in Week 6, Mayfield had only 206 passing yards with no touchdowns and an interception.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 22 of his 36 passing attempts for 337 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in the Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He earned his second career playoff win and a trip to the Divisional Round to face the Detroit Lions. Detroit surrendered the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks during the regular season, setting Mayfield up for another potential big game on Sunday. He failed to throw a touchdown in the Week 6 meeting at Tampa Bay, so he'll hope to turn it around this time.
