New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ribs, hip) did not practice on Wednesday due to hip and rib injuries, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Kamara's status throughout the week, but this injury does not seem serious after his workload was not limited in any way in Week 3. Last weekend, Kamara carried the ball 26 times and caught three passes. This was the second time this season he ran the ball at least 20 times and saw at least three targets. The star running back will have two more practices during the week to get himself ready to face the Atlanta Falcons. If Kamara sees his full workload on Sunday, he should be viewed as a safe RB1.
The New Orleans Saints relied heavily on running back Alvin Kamara against the Eagles in Week 3. He ended the game with 26 carries for 87 rushing yards and caught all three of his targets for 40 yards through the air. Kamara handled the ball nine times on the Saints' 17-play opening drive that chewed up half of the first quarter and later turned to him on seven consecutive plays across their first two drives of the second half. New Orleans remained dedicated to force-feeding their dynamic back even though their offensive line could not make much headway against Philadelphia's defensive front. Over the first two weeks of the season, Kamara had 10 runs of 10 yards or more but didn't break a gain that big until the fourth quarter when he turned loose for 16 yards, one of just five carries that went for more than five yards on Sunday. In Week 4, Kamara and the Saints will face off against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara went off in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, scoring four touchdowns and gaining 180 scrimmage yards. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has breathed new life into the Saints' stale offense, transforming them into one of the most efficient attacks in the NFL. Two weeks is a small sample but the Saints' lead running back is looking like his old self again, averaging 5.7 yards per carry and is tied for the league's most rushes of 10 or more yards. In Week 3, Kamara faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has allowed a league-worst 6.4 yards per carry and gave up 122 total yards to Bijan Robinson last week. Kamara is undoubtedly a must-start on Sunday.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara had himself a day on Sunday in the 44-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The veteran rushed 20 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns, adding two catches for 65 yards and an additional touchdown through the air. It was a vintage Kamara performance, as the 29-year-old has looked reignited in Klint Kubiak's offense. In the second quarter, he showcased his explosiveness on a 57-yard touchdown reception to go up 21-6. Despite the matchup being tough on paper, Kamara still finished as the RB1 on the day. He should be in all lineups next week against Philadelphia.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara had a strong Week 1, taking all of the high-quality touches out of the Saints' backfield. Kamara faces a much tougher matchup than the running back-friendly Carolina defense this week as New Orleans travels to Dallas on Sunday. Kamara should see a healthy enough volume to be placed in starting lineups, but the Cowboys' defense is a tough matchup for all positions. They surrendered just 54 rushing yards to running backs a week ago. The matchup knocks Kamara into RB2 range for this week.
