New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (back) participated in team drills on Wednesday, marking his most complete practice in over a week, though his reps were still limited. Head coach Dennis Allen expressed confidence in the team's running back depth, stating, "I think we've got guys that can play in the NFL, so that's not a concern of mine." Despite missing four games last seasonthree due to suspensionKamara finished second among running backs in receptions (75) and targets (86). He averaged 89.2 scrimmage yards per game, scored six touchdowns, and caught a career-high 87.2% of his targets. Apart from concerns about age and potential injury, Kamara is poised to be a solid RB2 in drafts, particularly in PPR leagues, if he remains healthy leading up to the season.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (back) returned to training camp practice on Tuesday. Kamara didn't exactly do much in a light practice session on Tuesday, but it was a good sign nonetheless to see him back in action after being held out since Aug. 13 with back tightness. It remains to be seen if the Saints will want the 29-year-old veteran to play at all in the preseason finale this Sunday against the visiting Tennessee Titans, but either way, it looks as though he'll be good to go for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. The five-time Pro Bowler averaged under 4.0 yards per carry in 2023 for the second time in the last three years, but he made up for it by catching 75 passes for 466 yards in 13 games. Kamara is obviously more attractive in point-per-reception fantasy leagues as an RB2, but if his volume dips at all in the passing game, we could see his fantasy value crater very quickly.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (back) was not spotted at Friday's practice. That makes a third consecutive absence at training camp due to a back issue for Kamara, who appears all but certain to sit out Sunday's preseason game against the hosting San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium. Fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned with Kamara's injury at the moment, but it would certainly be encouraging to see him back on the field at some point next week with the regular season quickly approaching. It doesn't help the Saints that there remains no sign of second-year back Kendre Miller (hamstring) at practice. Veteran power back Jamaal Williams makes sense as a bench stash in deep fantasy leagues while New Orleans' backfield remains banged up, and he figures to draw the start on Sunday against San Francisco.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (back) remained out of Wednesday's practice at training camp. Kamara is managing a back issue that he's dealt with in the past, and there appears to be a minimal amount of concern regarding the star back's health at this point. It's looking unlikely that he'll make an appearance in Sunday's preseason game against the hosting San Francisco 49ers, though. Kamara has plenty of risk in 2024 fantasy drafts while entering his age-29 season and witnessing his rushing efficiency decline in each of the last three years, but his role in New Orleans' passing game as quarterback Derek Carr's security blanket cannot be ignored. Last year, Kamara drew 87 targets despite missing four games via suspension, ranking third among RBs in full-PPR fantasy points per game (17.9). Until Kendre Miller (hamstring) is back at practice, Kamara remains a decent RB2 bet in fantasy.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (back) did not practice on Tuesday. Very little is known about the injury, but it is described as "back tightness". Kamara is in line for another large-volume season with the Saints. Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller are in line for touches behind Kamara. However, when healthy, Kamara dominates the backfield touches for the Saints. Should this injury persist, then the Saints may be faced with the same inefficiencies they experienced from Williams and Miller when Kamara was suspended for the first three games of 2023. Fantasy managers should continue to check back to ensure that Kamara will not miss significant time.
