DeVonta Smith Practicing Thursday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (ankle) was present for the team's first practice of the week on Thursday. Smith sprained his right ankle in Week 17 and was held out of the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants. Now that Smith is back at practice, he plans to play in Monday night's wild-card playoff showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 25-year-old could have a bigger role upon his return as well, depending on the status of fellow wideout A.J. Brown (knee), who suffered a knee injury last Sunday and didn't practice on Thursday. Smith had his second straight 1,000-yard season in just his third year in the NFL, catching 81 passes and scoring seven touchdowns for the second straight season. If Brown is out or limited for wild-card weekend, Smith will become quarterback Jalen Hurts' (finger) top target. UPDATE: Smith was a full-go in Thursday's practice.

Jalen Hurts Present For Thursday's Practice

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) was present at Thursday's practice and was wearing a glove on his injured throwing hand. Hurts suffered a grotesque dislocation of the middle finger on his right hand in the Week 18 regular season finale loss to the New York Giants but returned to the game. But X-rays were negative for any fractures, and the 25-year-old is expected to play on Monday for the wild-card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hurts was a high-end QB1 for fantasy managers again in 2023, although he carries plenty of bust potential into the first round of the playoffs because of his finger injury and with injuries to his top two wideouts in A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (ankle). Hurts is the second-most expensive fantasy signal-caller on DraftKings, behind only Josh Allen. UPDATE: Hurts was officially limited Thursday.

No Practice For A.J. Brown Thursday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) was not seen at practice with the rest of the team on Thursday. Brown went down early in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants with what looked like a painful knee injury. We haven't really gotten too many specifics on Brown's injury, although it's not considered serious. Still, the 26-year-old will probably need to get back on the practice field to have a shot at suiting up on Monday night in the wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown was one of the best wideouts in fantasy in 2023 with his fourth 1,000-yard season and seven touchdowns on a career-high 106 receptions in 17 games, but he'll have bust potential in DFS if he plays on wild-card weekend and isn't at 100 percent. He's currently the third-most expensive receiver on DraftKings.

A.J. Brown's Injury Not Believed To Be Serious

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam earlier this week, but the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo says from his understanding, Brown's knee injury isn't believed to be serious. The 26-year-old went down in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants with a knee injury and looked to be in significant pain. The Eagles have an extra day this week with their wild-card meeting against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, but Brown's practice status will be worth monitoring later this week for sure. Fellow wideout DeVonta Smith (ankle) missed Week 18, and quarterback Jalen Hurts dislocated a finger on his throwing hand last Sunday, so Philly's best offensive players are heading into the playoff opener with question marks. At a $8,100 DraftKings price tag (third-highest price among receivers), Brown could have bust potential on Monday if he suits up and isn't 100 percent.

Jahan Dotson Catches Two Passes In Blowout Loss To Cowboys

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson concluded his disappointing second season in the NFL with just two receptions on three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 38-10 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the regular season. It was an improvement following his third zero-catch game of the year in Week 17 in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but Dotson was ultimately a big disappointment in 2023 after many fantasy experts predicted a breakout season in his second year in the league. He totaled 49 receptions on 83 targets for 518 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games, a slight step back from when he had a 35-523-7 line in 12 games as a rookie. Dotson and the rest of Washington's offense suffered from quarterback Sam Howell's struggles, and it could be an uphill battle for fantasy relevance again in 2024 with a new coaching staff coming in to replace Ron Rivera.
