Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will go on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday during the first week of the NFL playoffs. The 25-year-old did suffer a finger injury during last week's loss to the New York Giants that looked pretty gruesome, but he was a full participant in practice on Friday and was throwing the ball. Hurts had a rough five-week stretch to end the season but salvaged a few games due to scoring rushing touchdowns. With that said, he now has to go on the road to take on a Tampa Bay defense that has been a favorable matchup for quarterbacks this past regular season. The only issue is the potential loss of star receiver A.J. Brown (knee), who has yet to return to practice. Due to his high price point, Hurts is a risky option in DFS.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (ankle) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day on Friday. Smith hasn't had any restrictions during practice yet this week and looks primed to play on Monday night in the wild-card playoff contest versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after sitting out the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants. The 25-year-old sprained his right ankle in Week 17 but appears to be fully ready to go for wild-card weekend, where he could operate as quarterback Jalen Hurts' (finger) top wideout if A.J. Brown (knee) is limited or sidelined altogether. There are some questions as to how well Hurts will play a week after dislocating the middle finger on his right throwing hand, but fantasy managers would be more comfortable ignoring that with Smith in their DFS lineups if Brown is unable to play. Smith had his second straight 1,000-yard season with seven touchdowns during the regular season.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) was a full participant in practice on Friday, a day after he was limited on Thursday. Hurts dislocated the middle finger on his throwing hand in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants, but X-rays came back negative and the 25-year-old should be good to go for Monday night's wild-card playoff game in Tampa against the Buccaneers. Hurts' return to a full practice should ease anyone's concerns that he might not have been ready to play this weekend, but he could still be somewhat compromised with his throwing on Monday night. Add in the fact that top wideout A.J. Brown (knee) is looking questionable to play, and the QB2 in fantasy during the regular season is looking a bit shaky as a high-priced QB option in DFS for the wild-card slate.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) was not seen at practice on Friday for the second straight day this week. Brown injured his knee in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday, and although it's not believed to be a serious injury, he has yet to practice this week and is a big question mark for Monday's wild-card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Given his high DFS salary and the fact that quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) dislocated the middle finger on his right throwing hand last week, Brown has become an extremely risky fantasy lineup option for the first round of the playoffs. DeVonta Smith (ankle), who missed Week 18, and tight end Dallas Goedert could be heavily involved in the passing attack if Brown is out or limited against Tampa Bay.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) did not throw the ball much at all, if at all, during the team's practice on Thursday, according to a source. It's a tough injury for Hurts, who dislocated the middle finger on his right throwing hand in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants. Hopefully he will be able to throw more before heading to Tampa on Sunday to prepare to face the Buccaneers in the wild-card playoff game on Monday night. The 25-year-old was the QB2 in overall fantasy points during the regular season, behind only Josh Allen, but he's trending toward being a pretty shaky DFS play during wild-card weekend, especially at such a high price point. On top of Hurts' own injury, his top two wideouts -- A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (ankle) -- are also beat up and could be playing at less than 100 percent.
