Rashid Shaheed Good To Go For Week 6

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (hip) said that he will be good to go for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times. Shaheed said, "I'll be all good. Just trying to take care of this hip. By the time game time comes around, I'll be alright." This is a great sign, as the 26-year-old was kept sidelined during Thursday's practice for the second straight day. Fantasy managers should monitor his status during Friday's practice in case he faces a setback. Shaheed has eclipsed 15.0 PPR points in four out of five games this season and should be locked into all lineups as a WR3 with upside as he faces a Tampa Bay defense that has allowed the 24th-most points to opposing wideouts this season.UPDATE: Shaheed was limited in Thursday's practice.

Alvin Kamara Returns To Practice On Thursday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (hip/hand) was seen at practice on Thursday, according to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Football Network. This is a great sign, as the star running back did not participate during Wednesday's session. Fantasy managers should monitor the injury report as it should provide clarity on Kamara's status. The 29-year-old was dealing with a hip and hand injury on Wednesday, but seeing him return on Thursday suggests this injury is not overly serious. Kamara is coming off the worst outing of the season as he ran for just 26 yards on 11 carries. However, he should remain locked into all lineups if he is cleared to play as he has averaged an impressive 23.8 PPR points across the first five weeks of the campaign.UPDATE: Kamara was limited on Thursday.

Taysom Hill Not At Practice

New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill (ribs) did not practice Wednesday in the team's first session of the week. It's another day spent on the sidelines for him after being diagnosed with a fractured rib a week ago. It's a good sign for the 34-year-old that his injury has not required a trip to the injured reserve, but it appears he still needs some time to recover after sustaining the injury early in the Saints' Week 4 contest against the Falcons. Teammate Juwan Johnson should continue to see an uptick in snaps while Hill is sidelined, with Foster Moreau also mixing in. The duo could be in store for a busy day in a potential shootout against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad that's put up 30 or more points in 3-of-5 outings. However, the Bucs allow just the tenth-fewest fantasy points to tight ends per game (4.8) in the league thus far, making them one of the less favorable matchups.

Derek Carr Has A Torn Oblique

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) has been announced to have torn his oblique. Carr suffered the injury in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He had already been announced to miss multiple weeks, but the fact that this injury is a tear is concerning. Carr had been supporting fantasy relevance for running back Alvin Kamara (hip/hand) and wide receivers Rashid Shaheed (hip) and Chris Olave. It appears as though the Saints will turn to rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler while Carr nurses back to health. While Rattler is a promising prospect, it is uncommon for rookie quarterbacks to experience high-end success in the NFL. Even so, Rattler will have a solid group of skill players around him. Carr has thrown for 989 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. After a red-hot start, Carr had hit a bit of a skid in recent weeks. He will look to get back on track upon his return from injury.

Spencer Rattler In Line To Start For The Saints In Week 6

New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler is slated to start for an injured Derek Carr (oblique) when the Saints meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. Rattler was a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was once considered a future first-round pick during his early college days. However, he did not quite live up to expectations and ended up falling to the fifth round. Still, Rattler is a promising prospect with a lot of talent. The Saints have a solid group of skill players in place and a solid defense which should support Rattler. Rookie quarterbacks tend to struggle in the NFL which is unfortunate for a Saints team with playoff aspirations. However, the team clearly feels as though Rattler is ready to step in for a short period of time. Hopefully, he can continue to support production for running back Alvin Kamara (hip/hand) and wide receivers Rashid Shaheed (hip) and Chris Olave.
