The Kansas City Chiefs will sign rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit to an undisclosed deal on Friday, according to sources. After working out and impressing the Chiefs' coaching staff earlier this week, the two sides have agreed to terms. Rees-Zammit will be playing running back/wide receiver as he attempts to make Kansas City's roster this summer. The 23-year-old played in the NFL's player pathway program earlier this year and also visited with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Denver Broncos before the Chiefs agreed to sign him. Rees-Zammit, who has played rugby in Wales, England, is an interesting addition for the Super Bowl champions, but he's probably a long shot to have any real kind of notable role if he actually makes the 53-man roster out of camp.UPDATE: The Chiefs signed Rees-Zammit to a three-year contract that includes some guaranteed money and a signing bonus.

It's clear that the Jacksonville Jaguars want to keep lead running back Travis Etienne Jr. fresh for the entire season in 2024. In the final six games in 2023, the Jaguars averaged just 79 yards per game on the ground. They finished 23rd overall with 96.8 yards per game on the ground. In an effort to keep Etienne fresher, part of the team's plan in the run game is getting second-year back Tank Bigsby more involved. He played just 141 snaps in his rookie season, carrying the ball 50 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns. A couple of fluky turnovers ensured he didn't see much more time down the stretch. "We have to get Tank going, the bottom line. He is too good, that's why we drafted him. I think early he had some 'what is that' type plays for whatever reason right or wrong. Again, in and out of the lineup," said head coach Doug Pederson.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are re-signing running back D'Ernest Johnson to a one-year deal, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 28-year-old hit the open market on Monday but ultimately ended up coming back to the team's crowded running back room. Starter Travis Etienne has a secure spot as the lead back, while 2023 rookie Tank Bigsby is expected to see an enhanced role in 2024. This leaves Johnson in the RB3 and special teams running back role, so he'll remain off the fantasy radar next season unless both Etienne and Bigsby suffer injuries and miss time simultaneously. Johnson has rushed for just 846 yards since entering the NFL in 2019 with the Cleveland Browns.

Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis is signing what is expected to be a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source. This will officially close the book on the Jaguars re-signing Calvin Ridley, who is also a free agent this offseason. In Jacksonville, Davis will join Christian Kirk and Zay Jones in starting three-wide sets, giving him plenty of fantasy upside. However, the 24-year-old former fourth-round pick of the Bills in 2020 out of Central Florida is as boom-or-bust as they come for fantasy purposes, and that probably isn't going to change much in his new home. Davis missed both of Buffalo's playoff games and finished the regular season with 45 receptions for 746 yards and a career-high tying seven touchdowns. He has scored at least six TDs in each of his four NFL seasons, but consistency has been an issue and he has a tendency to disappear completely.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly acquired quarterback Mac Jones from the New England Patriots. This move was expected as Jones was reportedly on the trade block heading into the offseason. The Pats are looking to go in a new direction with Jerod Mayo taking over as the head coach in New England. Jones struggled during his time in New England and was even benched for Bailey Zappe this past season. In exchange for Jones, the Pats will reportedly receive a sixth-round draft pick. The hope is that a change of scenery will help Jones get his career back on track. This move doesn't hold much fantasy value considering Trevor Lawrence will remain the starter in Jacksonville. However, the Jags are hopeful to turn Jones into a quality backup.
