San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson (foot) is listed as questionable ahead of Friday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Johnson has missed each of the last two games due to a left foot sprain. However, it appears Johnson has a chance of suiting up on Friday. If he plays, Johnson could move into the starting five with the Spurs shorthanded right now. He could see big minutes which would give him increased fantasy value. Otherwise, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Blake Wesley should see additional playing time if Johnson misses another game.
San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson (foot) won't suit up for Tuesday's matchup with the Nuggets. Johnson has a sprained left foot. However, the Spurs have nothing to play for this season, meaning he may not be back for the rest of the 2023-24 campaign. With Devin Vassell (foot) and Jeremy Sochan (ankle) also sidelined, Victor Wembanyama should get more than enough scoring chances. The 20-year-old has averaged a triple-double in two meetings with the champs this season, making him a lock for DFS contests. At the same time, Malaki Branham, Tre Jones, and Cedi Osman should pick things up offensively.
San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan (ankle) is officially done for the rest of the season. The organization announced on Monday that Sochan will undergo arthroscopic surgery. This is a tough blow after Sochan suffered the injury during Friday's game. Cedi Osman started in his place on Sunday and figures to continue playing with the starting unit the rest of the way. Sochan fell out of the starting point guard role early in the season but still put together a decent campaign. He'll be worth a look as a late-round option heading into next season.
San Antonio Spurs forward Devin Vassell (foot) has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Vassell was a late scratch on Sunday, and additional testing revealed a stress reaction in the third metatarsal. The Spurs didn't mention anything about surgery, but they've decided to shut down Vassell in what has become a lost season for the team. Vassell lived up to the fantasy hype this season, but sadly he'll have his 2023 campaign cut short. Malaki Branham figures to remain in the starting five which should give him a boost in fantasy value going forward.
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Devin Vassell (foot) won't play against Golden State on Sunday. He was a late addition to the injury report with a sore left foot and a questionable tag, and Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has now officially ruled him out. With Jeremy Sochan (ankle) also absent on Sunday, San Antonio is set to have two new starters. The team will be missing its third-best scorer, Keldon Johnson, as well, meaning a number of players have an opportunity to fill bigger roles. However, it's impossible to project who steps up behind Victor Wembanyama and Tre Jones. Julian Champagnie, Cedi Osman, Malaki Branham, and Blake Wesley could all get extended minutes.
