Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons (ankle) was forced to leave the game against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night with a left ankle sprain. He officially checked out of the game with a little less than half of the third quarter left to go and was deemed questionable to return at the time. He never did return and finished the game with 29 points, five assists, two rebounds, and two turnovers while shooting 9-for-19 from the floor and 4-for-12 from deep. Simons posted the best plus/minus on the team, by far, after the Trail Blazers gave up a 23-point lead. With Simons injury history, combined with the Blazers not competing for much, fantasy managers will want to stay tuned for an update on his ankle because he may miss some more time depending on the severity.
According to James Ham of Kings Beat, Sacramento inquired about the availability of Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant. However, the Trail Blazers aren't looking to move him. Grant has also made it clear he wants to remain in Portland. The 29-year-old signed a new deal with the team last summer. So far, things have worked out, with Grant averaging 21.3 points, the second-highest mark of his career. Understandably, clubs around the National Basketball Association will likely make a last-ditch effort to acquire the 2014 second-round pick as the trade deadline approaches. Yet, Grant will probably stay in Portland, although he would be a viable fantasy commodity wherever he plays.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe (abdomen) remains out for Friday's meeting with the Denver Nuggets. Portland announced on Wednesday that Sharpe was starting to ramp up and begin light on-court activities as he recovers from a lower abdominal strain, but the versatile swingman is not ready to suit up for game action. Sharpe has been sidelined since mid-January and sees his next opportunity to return against these same Nuggets on Sunday. Malcolm Brogdon has picked up the slack for the Blazers covering his latest eight appearances, averaging 20.0 points, 6.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 three-pointers since Jan. 17. Brogdon might be on the move by next Thursday's trade deadline, but he's getting plenty of run in Rip City and is a must-start in fantasy right now.
Portland Trail Blazers guards Anfernee Simons (rib) and Scoot Henderson (quad) have both been listed as questionable for the Sunday night matchup against the Chicago Bulls. Simons has only missed one game so far since the turn of the new year, but he did play 40 minutes in back-to-back games and took a combined 47 shot attempts. This could become a rest day for the 24-year-old who has a bit of an injury history in his short career so far. Henderson, on the other hand, is dealing with a left quad contusion and only saw the court for six minutes in their Friday night game. If they're both unable to play, Matisse Thybulle, Jabari Walker, and Justin Minaya will likely see heavy minutes since there are eight players on the injury report.
Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant (back) is on the injury report as questionable while he deals with mid-back soreness which caused him to exit their last game on Friday. He was only able to play 10 minutes in that contest and registered four points, two assists, one rebound, and one turnover while shooting 2-for-6 from the floor. He's a major part of the Blazers' offense whenever he's on the floor, so losing him for this game would be a big blow to their chances to walk away with a win. If he's unable to suit up, Toumani Camara would likely move into the starting lineup while Justin Minaya and Kris Murphy would see some extra minutes off of the bench. Camara would be the only viable streaming option in most leagues.
