Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett is thrilled to play for his hometown club. "It's just a literal dream come true," said Barrett during an interview. "When I found out I was coming home, I didn't know how to act. I was pinching myself and telling my people, 'We're really here.'" The 24-year-old spent his entire career with the Knicks before being dealt to Toronto ahead of last season's deadline. While Barrett was limited to 32 games with the Raptors, he averaged a career-high 21.8 points. With that said, the Raptors aren't even close to being a championship-caliber club. Yet, there's reason to believe Barrett could be in store for his best year to date in 2024-25.
Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. After playing 33 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the visiting Indiana Pacers, Barrett will get the night off on the second half of Toronto's back-to-back. The 23-year-old Canadian swingman should be able to return for Friday's contest against the Miami Heat. The short-handed 25-54 Raptors could turn to Jordan Nwora and Jalen McDaniels for additional minutes in their starting lineup on Wednesday, but it's difficult to pinpoint a clear beneficiary of Barrett's absence for DFS purposes. The sharpshooting Gary Trent Jr. (back) should lead the offense if available, averaging 21.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 3.1 three-pointers over his last 14 games.
Toronto Raptors guard RJ Barrett (rest) is expected to return to the court ahead of Friday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Both Barrett and forward Kelly Olynyk (rest) both sat out of Wednesday's game. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned as it appeared to be a routine rest day. The return of these players should mean decreased roles for Garrett Temple, Jalen McDaniels and Malik Williams.
Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett (rest) has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 23-52 Raptors will give Barrett the second night of their back-to-back off after the Canadian swingman scored 28 points in 26 minutes during his return from a nine-game absence to mourn the passing of his younger brother. Fantasy managers can expect Barrett back for Friday's tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks. One of Garrett Temple and Jordan Nwora should jump into Toronto's first unit with Bruce Brown (knee) doubtful on Wednesday, but neither are recommended pickups in the championship round against a vaunted Minnesota defense that features the best defensive efficiency rating (106.0) in the Association.
Toronto Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley (conditioning) and forward RJ Barrett (conditioning) are both available with minutes restrictions for Tuesday's tilt versus the Los Angeles Lakers. After multi-game absences due to personal reasons, Quickley and Barrett have worked their way back to Toronto's lineup. Quickley will end a six-game absence, while Barrett will return following eight games away from the Raptors. The former New York Knicks will enhance season-long fantasy rosters in the championship round, with Quickley averaging 20.3 points, 8.0 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 3.1 three-pointers across 12 post-All-Star break games, and Barrett averaging 21.5 points, 5.1 dimes, 4.6 boards, and 2.1 treys on 53.1% shooting from deep since the break. IQ has the more favorable matchup of the two, as LA is surrendering the third-most FanDuel points to opposing point guards.
