Washington Wizards centers Marvin Bagley III (back) and Richaun Holmes (recently traded) will both be inactive for Friday's game against the Boston Celtics. The two big men are set to serve as Washington's primary centers when available, but the oft-injured Bagley will miss a fourth consecutive game due to a lower back contusion, and the Wizards just acquired Holmes in a trade on Thursday. Bagley and Holmes will try to return versus the visiting Philadelphia 76ers for the second leg of a back-to-back on Saturday. Considering Daniel Gafford is out of the fold as well, this game could have a hard time staying competitive. Kyle Kuzma is in line to start at the five in a tough spot against a Celtics group that sits second in opponent field-goal percentage (44.9%) in 2023-24. Kristaps Porzingis could feast in a smash spot on Friday.
Washington Wizards forward/center Marvin Bagley III (back) will sit out a third consecutive game on Wednesday versus Cleveland. A lower back contusion has sidelined the 24-year-old. Before suffering the injury, Bagley III had made a good start at his new club, averaging 15.5 points and 8.4 rebounds in eight games. With him unavailable, Eugene Omoruyi had a good showing off the bench on Sunday against Phoenix. However, it came in an ugly blowout, and the Wizards might have other plans for Wednesday.
Washington Wizards forward/center Marvin Bagley III (concussion) will remain out on Sunday versus the Phoenix Suns. This will mark his second consecutive absence due to concussion protocol, so his next chance to play will be Wednesday against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers. It's a tough break for Bagley, who's played well since his trade from the Detroit Pistons. However, until he's ready to return, some of his minutes should be absorbed by Daniel Gafford, with the 25-year-old posting a double-double in three of his previous four appearances.
Washington Wizards forward Marvin Bagley III (back) has been downgraded from questionable to out on Friday and will have to watch the home game against the Miami Heat. The 24-year-old saw some big minutes when he was first traded to the Wizards from the Detroit Pistons, but has since been moved to the bench and hasn't been on the floor for more than 20 minutes. In terms of team direction and success, the Wizards are sinking fast, but that usually opens minutes for a lot of players. That hasn't been the case for all of the younger guys on this team though. While Bagley is sidelined, Kyle Kuzma will likely get a bump in usage while Corey Kispert should see a bump in minutes as well.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Wizards acquired forward/center Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers, and two second-round picks from Detroit. In exchange, the Pistons received Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala. The focal point of the deal centers around Bagley, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent just over three seasons in Sacramento to begin his career. Unfortunately, he wasn't a constant performer and was moved to Detroit during the 2021-22 campaign. Since then, his situation hasn't changed, considering he's had a tough time finding a routine spot in the rotation. But Bagley has potential, averaging 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 10 starts with the Pistons this season. If he can get consistent minutes with the Wizards, the 24-year-old will see an uptick in fantasy interest. Still, his shooting percentages need work, so fantasy managers with room to spare shouldn't label him as anything more than a speculative roster addition.
