Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija (knee) has been tagged as questionable for Saturday after escaping their game on Thursday without picking up a severe injury. Avdija talked about the relief that his injury wasn't worse, but it's not surprising that he would appear on the injury report until the knee soreness went down a bit. Avdija has been on a tear lately ever since his usage has increased and has been one of the best fantasy candidates to help win some playoff matchups. If he's unable to play in this one, Bilal Coulibaly will take on a much bigger role while Patrick Baldwin Jr. may move into the starting five.
Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija (knee) was forced to exit their last game against the Houston Rockets during the fourth quarter after stepping on one of Fred VanVleet's feet. He returned to the bench after a short time but didn't play the rest of the game. Afterward, he told the press that he felt like he avoided anything severe and that his knee was just a bit sore. Avdija has been one of the best players on the Wizards over the last month or so. Across his last 15 games, the 23-year-old has averaged 18.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.8 turnovers, and 1.6 made threes per game. If he doesn't have to miss any extended time, Avdija should remain in fantasy lineups for the rest of the season.
Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija (heel) is active for Friday's showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers. The 23-year-old missed three games because of a heel contusion before returning on Thursday against the Lakers. He had a fantastic game, ending the night with 15 points, 15 boards, and five assists. Avdija has had the best year of his career, so he should be starting in all fantasy lineups. However, his presence makes Corey Kispert a less appealing fantasy option.
Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija (heel) is listed as questionable for Friday's meeting with the Clippers. He returned from a three-game absence against the Lakers on Thursday, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss Friday's game after Avdija put in a massive 43-minute shift in Thursday's overtime loss. His absence would open the door for Corey Kispert to re-enter the starting unit. He made his second start of the campaign on Tuesday versus Golden State. With that said, Kispert has also been productive coming off the bench, and the change won't affect his role on the team much. Having gone for 20 points in four of his last five appearances, Kispert will be one of the focal points of Washington's offense if Avdija doesn't play on Friday.
Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija (heel) has been upgraded from questionable to available for Thursday's contest against the Los Angeles Lakers. Off the floor for Washington's last three matchups with a left heel contusion, Avdija is back and will suit up on Thursday. The 23-year-old playmaking forward has been up and down in his fourth season for the Wizards, hovering around the top 100 in points leagues for fantasy purposes with 13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 treys per game over 55 contests. It's unclear if Avdija is facing any form of minutes restrictions in his return, and while this matchup carries some blowout risk, the Lakers are yielding the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing small forwards on DraftKings in 2023-24. Make sure to get him active in season-long leagues.
