Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (knee) practiced on Tuesday, but center Isaiah Stewart (ankle) did not. Stewart sprained his left ankle in Sunday's shocking win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and his absence at Tuesday's session means he's not trending in the right direction for Wednesday's contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Detroit continues to manage the strained left knee of Cunningham, who was a late scratch on Sunday, but he would seem to have a good chance of returning on Wednesday.
Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (knee) finished with 20 points and 12 assists in Saturday's loss to the Washington Wizards. Cunningham returned after an eight-game absence because of a knee injury. Although he managed to amass a double-double, he shot a rough 7-for-17 from the field. The 22-year-old also had seven turnovers. At any rate, Cunningham played as well as expected in his first game in weeks. However, it remains to be seen if Cunningham will be back in the lineup on Sunday against OKC, the second of consecutive games. If he's not, Killian Hayes and Alec Burks would be in line for more work.
Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (knee) is probable for Saturday's clash with the Wizards. Detroit's young star is expected to return from an eight-game absence, although he also had a probable tag on Wednesday ahead of an encounter with the Hornets and didn't play. Following a multi-week absence, the team wanted to give Cunningham more time to work on his conditioning before he jumped back into action. Cunningham's return would bump Killian Hayes to the bench. Hayes had a good game on Wednesday with a 6-7-8 line, but his spot in the rotation is under threat as Monte Morris finally made his season debut against Charlotte.
Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams says the team decided that guard Cade Cunningham (knee) won't play on Wednesday versus the Charlotte Hornets because they feel he needs a bit more time to work on his conditioning and get more practice reps. Detroit listed Cunningham as probable with a strained left knee on Tuesday but downgraded him to questionable on Wednesday morning before ruling him out altogether, and the 2021 No. 1 overall pick targets a return on Saturday against the Washington Wizards. Monte Morris (quadriceps) will make his debut for the Pistons and reportedly face a minutes restriction against Charlotte, so he won't be a fantasy option right off the bat. Jaden Ivey has averaged 21.4 points, 6.1 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 threes covering seven games without Cunningham this year.
Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (knee) appears to be on track to return to the lineup Wednesday versus Charlotte, with the team listing him as probable for the game. Detroit's young star has missed seven games. Cunningham put together a strong stretch of games right before getting hurt, and he returns in a juicy matchup against a team that shares the league's worst defensive rating with the Pistons. His return will push Killian Hayes back to the bench. Hayes has struggled even with Cunningham out of the lineup and should be a free agent in most fantasy leagues.
