According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard is set to sign a new deal with the team this summer. The 24-year-old, who impressed with strong postseason performances, inked a four-year, $8.5 million deal with the Pacers in 2022. The final year in 2025-26 is a team option, but it looks like Indiana wants to lock up Nembhard long-term as soon as possible. Through his first two NBA seasons, the Canadian guard has averaged 9.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. However, Nembhard took huge strides in the 2024 playoffs, putting up 14.8 points with 3.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

The 24-year-old added 10 assists for a nice double-double and recorded six rebounds with one steal and one block. Indiana will be very disappointed by getting swept in the Eastern Conference Finals, but Nembhard's performances in the series are definitely a positive for the team. He averaged 28.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.5 assists in the two full games played without Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring). This was only his second season in the league, and Nembhard could be ready to make big strides in 2024-25.

The 23-year-old injured his back during Monday's meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks and didn't suit up for the rematch on Wednesday. Although Tyrese Haliburton will see more than enough minutes at the one, others like T.J. McConnell and Bennedict Mathurin should continue to receive more work. However, while McConnell and Mathurin both have a higher ceiling without Nembhard on the floor, neither can be trusted from a fantasy standpoint.
