Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) remains out for Wednesday's game versus the Atlanta Hawks due to swelling in his left knee. Embiid missed Saturday's contest as well as practice on Monday and Tuesday with the issue, and he will hope to make his return to Philly's lineup when they host the Sacramento Kings on Friday. The NBA's leading scorer (34.6 points per game) can be deemed day-to-day for now, but his lack of practice is at least moderately concerning. Robert Covington (illness) won't be active on Wednesday, so Paul Reed's streaming value lives on in fantasy basketball. In eight outings without Embiid this season, Reed is recording 10.8 points on 59.0% shooting from the field, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.4 combined steals and blocks in 24.9 minutes per game.
Miami Heat point guard Kyle Lowry sprained his left hand in Monday's matchup against Houston and was limited to only 16 minutes on the court. The veteran exited the game in the third quarter and finished with six points, two rebounds, one assist, and two blocks. Miami returns to action on Wednesday against Oklahoma City, and it looks like the team could be without another option, with Jimmy Butler (foot) and Caleb Martin (ankle) having already missed multiple games. Jaime Jaquez Jr. has started to see massive minutes with all the injuries, while Josh Richardson and Duncan Robinson are also heavily used off the bench.
Phoenix Suns forward Eric Gordon (knee) will suit up for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The veteran forward will make his return back to the court after missing the last two games due to right knee soreness. The Suns haven't said anything about Gordon being limited, so he's expected to play his normal role. He should play a significant role off the bench, so fantasy managers can feel safe getting Gordon back in their lineups.
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said center Joel Embiid (knee) did not practice on Monday and hopes he'll get some activity in on Tuesday. The Sixers could be managing Embiid's practice reps, and he'll have until Wednesday's stop in Atlanta against the Hawks to get back on the court after missing Saturday's second game of a back-to-back with swelling in his left knee. The 29-year-old two-time scoring champion is on a rampage right now, notching 15 consecutive 30-point, 10-rebound efforts with averages of 36.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 triples, and 3.6 combined steals and plus blocks over this period. Paul Reed could start at the five for Philly again on Wednesday if Embiid can't get cleared.
Miami Heat guard/forward Caleb Martin (ankle) looks set to miss another game on Monday, as the team has tagged him doubtful for a clash with the Rockets. Miami has been five games without him already as Martin recovers from a right ankle sprain. The Heat also won't have Jimmy Butler (toe) on Monday, so it's likely Nikola Jovic will log another start. He's had four starts overall across the season, averaging 8.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in the role. Jovic tends to be very inconsistent and will be a risky choice for fantasy managers on Monday.
