Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart (finger) exited Tuesday's win over the Dallas Mavericks. He didn't return. Ja Morant (shoulder) is done for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, and Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) wasn't available, so Smart was expected to be a top producer for the Grizzlies on Tuesday night. He met expectations, amassing 23 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field and 4-for-8 from deep. Unfortunately, Smart's evening ended after 21 minutes of work because of a right finger injury. Nonetheless, Memphis will have two days off before meeting the Clippers on Friday night, and depending on the severity of the injury, the 29-year-old could be out there. However, if he isn't, Desmond Bane, scoring a team-high 32 points versus the Mavs, would be a popular DFS option. Additionally, guys like Luke Kennard and Ziaire Williams, to name a few, could get more involved offensively.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama (knee) isn't expected to play in Tuesday's game versus the Dallas Mavericks. The 22-year-old has averaged a career-high 10.4 points and 5.5 rebounds this season. However, he's battled various ailments, including an ankle injury that kept him out to begin the 2023-24 campaign. Under normal circumstances, Aldama's potential absence wouldn't mean much to fantasy managers. But with Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) questionable, Aldama could see enough minutes to make him relevant. At any rate, if both players are ruled out, David Roddy, Xavier Tillman Sr., and Bismack Biyombo could handle nearly all of the minutes underneath the basket.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery. The 24-year-old suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder on Saturday. After experiencing soreness, he underwent an MRI. Unfortunately, the results weren't good, with the MRI revealing a labral tear in Morant's shoulder. It's a tough blow for Morant, who returned to the court in December after serving a 25-game suspension. In nine appearances this season, he averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. The Grizzlies struggled without the 2019 No. 2 overall pick, although the team was 6-3 when he was on the floor. Nevertheless, with Morant out of the equation, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, and Jaren Jackson Jr. should get more scoring opportunities. Additionally, guys like Luke Kennard, Jacob Gilyard, Santi Aldama, Vince Williams Jr., and Derrick Rose (thigh) are worth monitoring in deeper fantasy leagues.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) is currently listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. The stud forward appeared to be fine during his 32 minutes of playing time on Sunday. Fellow forward Santi Aldama (knee) is doubtful, which means David Roddy could be asked to enter the rotation and play a bigger role. However, Vince Williams Jr. would be the better streaming choice given how well he has been playing lately.
Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (shoulder) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Morant sat out of Sunday's game as well due to right shoulder soreness. His absence allowed Luke Kennard to move into the starting five. However, Vince Williams Jr. was the better fantasy option between the two. Williams scored 19 points with nine rebounds and two blocks in 37 minutes. He figures to have a similar role on Tuesday, which should make him worth a look in fantasy leagues.
