Clint Capela Still Out With Groin Strain

Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (groin) remains out for Wednesday's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. Capela will miss his sixth consecutive game, but the Hawks announced on Tuesday that the veteran big man is progressing well in his rehabilitation from a strained left groin and will practice when they return from the All-Star break. Capela has nine days to recover before their next contest, coming on Feb. 23 versus the Toronto Raptors. With fill-in starter Onyeka Okongwu (toe) also sidelined on Wednesday, Atlanta could either shift Jalen Johnson to the five to open up minutes for Bogdan Bogdanovic and De'Andre Hunter, or give traditional center Bruno Fernando a spot start down low. In four career starts, Fernando has averaged just 4.8 points, 5.3 boards, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 18.2 minutes, but he gets a Hornets team that places last in defensive efficiency (118.5) in 2023-24.

Onyeka Okongwu Out On Wednesday

Atlanta Hawks forward/center Onyeka Okongwu (toe) won't play on Wednesday against Charlotte. He was injured in Monday's meeting with the Chicago Bulls, with an MRI revealing a sprained left big toe. As a result, the 23-year-old is predicted to miss at least 7-10 days. It's a tough blow for Atlanta, considering Okongwu had been filling in for Clint Capela (adductor). Not only that, he's averaged 16.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in eight starts. Nonetheless, the Hawks will likely run smaller lineups to make up for their lack of size. Fortunately, the All-Star break is on the horizon, giving both men time to recover. But Bruno Fernando could get extra work until either man is ready to play, making him a practical streaming option in any fantasy format.

Dyson Daniels Out Indefinitely

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (knee) is out indefinitely. The 2022 No. 8 overall pick has received routine playing time with the Pelicans this season. He's appeared in 52 games, starting 15, averaging 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds. Although Daniels isn't the most productive offensive option, he's logged 1.4 steals per game, much to the delight of category participants. Nonetheless, several treatment options are being considered, so his outlook for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign will remain a mystery until the team provides an update on his health. Hopefully, fantasy managers won't need to wait long for that.

Clint Capela Out Monday, Due For Re-Evaluation Soon

Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (groin) is still listed as out for Monday's tilt versus the Chicago Bulls. Capela's status is worth noting because he is expected to be re-evaluated with a strained left groin before the All-Star break arrives. With that said, the Swiss big man will have one more shot to suit up this week when the Hawks head to North Carolina to face the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. Onyeka Okongwu will man the middle in Atlanta's starting five for at least one more game, and he's been a second-round fantasy player in nine-category leagues since Jan. 30. Over his latest seven games, Okongwu is averaging 16.7 points on 70.7% shooting from the field, 8.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, and 1.1 treys and is a set-and-forget play in season-long leagues any time Capela is unavailable.

De'Andre Hunter Available Again Monday

Atlanta Hawks forward De'Andre Hunter (knee) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's meeting with Chicago. Atlanta continues to manage his right knee injury, and Hunter sat out Saturday's clash with Philadelphia as the team completed a back-to-back. Hunter is a talented player, but it's tough to rely on him in fantasy hoops if he's not 100 percent healthy. The 26-year-old has featured in five games since returning from a six-week absence, averaging 12.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 19.6 minutes.
