NFL Circa Millions Picks: Week 17

After going 3-2 last week in the Circa Millions NFL picks contest, my best entry sits at tied for 15th. Like I mentioned last week, I’m aiming to try to get top five, so I’m willing to take some risks these last two weeks.

Third place is just 1.5 points better than me, so ideally I need to somehow make about two correct choices better than the others these last two weeks. I really need to go 8-2 or better to hope for that outcome. So I’ll need to focus on wins (not ties) and ideally get those wins in games that the other players don’t choose as well.

Below is a pic of the selections from last week. It was unfortunate that the popular picks did so well. You can see how few choose the Thursday game, so I’ll continue to make a pick for the game tonight and then try to focus on games with half point lines.

Week 17 Circa Millions Picks

New York Jets +7.5

I want to play the Thursday game since most won’t want to choose it, and I definitely like the Jets here. I view these teams as similar. Both have good defenses and skill position players, but quarterback play has been a challenge. Joe Flacco has come out of a de facto retirement and looked like he’s in his prime, especially after last week. It just seems like a good spot to fade the Browns and expect them to fall back to earth a little. I think the Jets can keep this game within a touchdown, which is good enough for a win with this line.

New York Giants +5.5

I think the Rams have been outperforming a little, and they’re clearly considered a hot team right now. The Giants looked half-decent last week, especially once they put Tyrod Taylor in the game. While the veteran quarterback isn’t as fun to root for as the undrafted Italian-meme central rookie, he probably has the better chance of keeping this game close or even getting the Giants the W.
