Jordan Mims A Healthy Scratch In Week 17

New Orleans Saints running back Jordan Mims is a healthy scratch for the Week 17 contest against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in New Orleans, even with Alvin Kamara (groin) missing another game. Mims, for lack of better options in the Saints' depleted offense, led the team with five receptions on eight targets for only 16 yards in the Monday night loss to the Green Bay Packers. He added four carries for only 16 yards. The 25-year-old has been used sparingly in his second year in the NFL, carrying the ball only 18 times for 58 yards (3.2 yards per tote) while catching nine of 15 targets for 58 yards in his 10 games played. With Mims inactive, the Saints will roll with second-year back Kendre Miller as their starter in the backfield, with veteran Jamaal Williams backing him up.

Jordan Mims Unlikely To Make Impact In Week 17

New Orleans Saints running back Jordan Mims was the team's unexpected leader in targets in Week 16, seeing eight passes come his way. That translated to merely 16 yards on five catches as rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler could do little but check down to the backup to spot starter Kendre Miller. Alvin Kamara (groin) is out another week, meaning Miller is likely to be in the RB1 slot once again with Mims and Jamaal Williams as the alternatives out of the backfield. Despite outsnapping Miller in Week 16, Mims can't be counted on to do the same on Sunday in the Saints' game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi clarified that Mims' involvement was due to the game getting out of hand so early, forcing the team to run a two-minute offense to give themselves a chance at keeping up. The Raiders don't pose the same threat which means we should see less of Mims in Week 17. He can remain on the wire.

Jordan Mims Has Busy Night In Blowout

New Orleans Saints running back Jordan Mims was the unexpected leader in targets and receptions in Monday's 35-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Mims caught five of his eight targets but finished with a meager 16 receiving yards. Mims also had four carries for 16 rushing yards, second only to the 28 yards that quarterback Spencer Rattler scrambled for. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi credited the surprising usage of Mims to the fact that the team had to shift into "two-minute mode" after falling into an early hole. Mims finished with 25 offensive snaps to 21 for Kendre Miller, who was expected to be the team's featured back with Alvin Kamara (groin) shelved. Before Monday's game, Mims had been inactive for four straight games leading back to the Saints' Week 12 bye. In his very limited role this season, he now has 58 rushing yards on 18 carries and another 58 on nine receptions.
