Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught one of his two targets and lost two yards during the team's 28-3 win over the New York Giants. While this stat line is going to look terrible to those who did not watch this game, there is no real reason to panic here. The Eagles leaned heavily on running back Saquon Barkley in this game and he tallied 187 total yards. Quarterback Jalen Hurts only needed to attempt 14 passes and all of the starters were out of the game in the early fourth quarter. It would have been nice to see the former Heisman winner get more of the target pie with such a low volume of pass attempts, but this was a week we can move on from because of the heavy Barkley reliance. Smith will still be considered a WR2 when the Eagles take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 25-year-old saw his lowest target share of the season last week against the Cleveland Browns but turned four targets into three receptions for 64 yards and a long touchdown grab. The return of A.J. Brown from a hamstring injury that he suffered in Week 1 played a role in Smith seeing fewer targets, but with starting tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) now ruled out, the former Heisman winner should see an increase in usage this week. The Giants are middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers but will have their hands full stopping Brown and their former starting back Saquon Barkley. Consider Smith a high-end WR2 in Week 7.

The former Heisman winner recorded his lowest target share of the season but salvaged his fantasy performance with a 45-yard touchdown catch in the 4th quarter that gave the Eagles the lead and ultimately the win. Smith still tied for second on the team in targets and had a solid fantasy outing. Philadelphia was on the field defensively more than they would have liked, leading to just 25 pass attempts for the offense. Starting tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) left early in the first quarter and did not return. The No. 2 spot in the target pecking order is firmly in possession of Smith, and he will be a locked and loaded WR2 next week when the Eagles travel to New York to take on the rival Giants.
