Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers and offensive lineman Alaric Jackson both signed their free-agent tender offers on Monday. Rivers will be heading into his third year with the Rams in 2024 after entering the NFL in 2022 with LA as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State. The 25-year-old had 32 carries last year for 129 yards and caught all five of his targets for 22 additional yards in nine regular-season games (one start) in his second year. Depending on what the Rams do in the upcoming NFL draft, Rivers could be battling with Zach Evans for the No. 2 backfield role in training camp this summer behind starter Kyren Williams. At best, Rivers will be a handcuff option in deeper leagues for fantasy managers that take Williams.
The Los Angeles Rams tendered running back and exclusive-rights free-agent Ronnie Rivers on Friday. The 25-year-old had 32 carries for 129 yards and caught five passes for 22 yards in a reserve role for the Rams in 2023 in his second NFL season. In his first two years in the league, he has 41 carries for 150 yards and 10 catches for 51 yards. Rivers will now be unable to negotiate with other teams this offseason, meaning he will return to LA in 2024 as running back depth behind Kyren Williams and Zach Evans, among others. The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder won't be on the fantasy radar in traditional 12-team leagues unless Williams misses time due to injury next season.
Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers started and put together a solid performance in the team's 21-20 win against the San Francisco 49ers. Rivers rushed the ball 13 times for 52 yards but was not targeted in the pass game. With the team resting running back Kyren Williams for their wildcard game next week, Rivers was ahead of both Zach Evans and Royce Freeman in the backfield. Despite being the clear backup behind Williams, the undrafted second-year player should not be considered an option in any formats when they face the Detroit Lions next week.
Los Angeles Rams running back Ronnie Rivers could benefit greatly from the team resting key starters in Week 18. Lead-back Kyren Williams is expected to be rested giving Rivers and other backs on the team a chance to showcase what they can do. Rivers will be competing with veteran Royce Freeman and rookie Zach Evans for touches out of the backfield. They will be facing the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18, who have clinched the top seed in the NFC and could rest key defensive players. The 24-year-old is worth a dart throw in DFS but should not be considered in many other formats this week.
