Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams (undisclosed) didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason clash with the Cowboys. However, it appears Adams' injury isn't severe. "The other night when we had the practice here at the stadium, he had an awkward movement where he just got sore," head coach Antonio Pierce said in an interview with ESPN. "He missed practice on Thursday. And like I said, if a guy's not 100 percent healthy, I wasn't going to risk it. It's not worth it. He'll be back to practice come Tuesday." The 31-year-old eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the fourth consecutive season in 2023-24. Yet, he caught just eight touchdowns, his fewest since 2019. But if Adams can get some stability from quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who was announced as the Week 1 starter on Sunday, he could return to the Pro Bowl conversation. With that said, fantasy managers should still view him as a top wideout, assuming he's healthy.
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said that wide receiver Davante Adams (undisclosed) tweaked something in training camp practice on Wednesday, which is why he didn't suit up for the team's preseason game on Saturday versus the Dallas Cowboys. Adams is expected to return to practice on Tuesday, though, so it doesn't appear to be an injury that is serious enough to put his availability for the Week 1 regular-season opener in question. The 31-year-old pass-catcher is unlikely to play in the preseason finale against the San Francisco 49ers next Friday, and the team's starters won't even play in that contest. In his first year without quarterback Derek Carr in 2023, Adams still had over 1,000 receiving yards, but his 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns were both his fewest marks since 2019. He's likely to struggle for big explosive plays down the field again in 2024, making him more of a low-end WR1 than a high-end one.
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams (unknown) was not at practice on Thursday night and the reason is still unknown. The star wideout rejoined his teammates on Monday after the birth of his son and has practiced as usual since then. His absence is more than likely a short-term deal but it would be worth monitoring as it remains to be seen if he suits up for a preseason game this year. The quarterback battle continues while Adams' fantasy impact weighs heavily on who wins between Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O'Connell.
The Las Vegas Raiders are getting wide receiver Davante Adams (personal) back at training camp this week. The three-time first-team All-Pro left the team in camp in Costa Mesa after six practices this summer -- he missed the final five practices and the preseason opener on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings -- to return to Las Vegas for the birth of his son. "Davante will be here today," head coach Antonio Pierce said on Sunday. "Spoke to him after the game. He's excited. He watched it. He misses his teammates. Glad baby boy is here, healthy." It remains to be seen if the 31-year-old will suit up in the team's second preseason contest this Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys. Adams had a fourth straight 1,000-yard season in his second year in Sin City in 2023, but his 1,144 receiving yards and eight TDs were his fewest in those categories since 2019. He's still a WR1 in fantasy, but he's on the low end of that tier with either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell running the offense.
Given all the trade talk surrounding Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams this offseason, his agents, Kenny Chapman and Frank Bauer released a statement on Tuesday, saying: "This is baseless, unfounded speculation and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk - period." Adams reiterated earlier this offseason that he fully plans to play the 2024 campaign with the Raiders, which will be his third with the organization. Despite the Raiders moving on quickly from Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023, the 31-year-old Adams had a fourth straight 100-catch season, in addition to 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. However, his yardage and TD total were his lowest marks since 2019. The QB situation isn't much better in 2024 with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew, making Adams more of a low-end WR1 in fantasy than a high-end WR1.
