Jalen Hurts A QB1 Despite Tough New Orleans Matchup

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will go on the road to take on the red-hot New Orleans Saints in Week 3. The 26-year-old failed to secure a win for the Eagles last week against the Atlanta Falcons, but had a solid performance on the field without his top weapon A.J. Brown (hamstring), and finally started to run the ball like the player who was challenging for an MVP a few years ago. Brown has not been ruled out, but has not practiced all week and is expected to miss his second game in a row. With that said, because of Hurts' ability to run the ball, he remains a top-tier fantasy option against a Saints defense that has racked up five turnovers and has allowed just one passing touchdown through the first two weeks of the season.

A.J. Brown Not Ruled Out For Sunday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) was not ruled out by his head coach, Nick Sirianni, on Friday morning, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The standout wide receiver suffered a hamstring injury last week and was held out of their Week 2 match against the Atlanta Falcons. Brown was expected to miss several weeks at the time, but seeing that he has not been ruled out for this weekend is a promising sign. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Friday's injury report, as the wideout will likely carry an injury designation over the weekend. In the season opener, Brown caught five of his ten targets for 119 yards and a score. If the 27-year-old misses his second-straight game, DeVonta Smith will be the No.1 target for Jalen Hurts once again on Sunday.

A.J. Brown Misses Another Practice

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) missed his second straight practice of the week on Thursday. Brown suffered a hamstring injury in practice last Friday and was held out of the Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. It's an injury that Brown expects to keep him out for multiple games, so fantasy managers should have already been planning not to have the talented pass-catcher for this Sunday's showdown against the New Orleans Saints. Without Brown on Monday night, receiver DeVonta Smith led the Eagles with seven receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. Brittain Covey also benefitted with six receptions, but it amounted to only 23 yards. As long as Brown remains out, expect Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert and running back Saquon Barkley to be targeted more through the air by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

A.J. Brown Does Not Practice Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. Brown picked up the injury during practice ahead of the Eagles' Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He has previously stated that the injury would likely cost him "a couple of weeks". As such, the lack of practice activity comes as no surprise. Unless Brown can ramp up his activity later in the week, it would appear that he is in line to miss his second game in a row. Hopefully, Brown's injury does not drag out too long. He was his usual self in Week 1 on his way to five receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy managers will be eager to get that kind of production back.

Dallas Goedert Gains 38 Yards In Loss To Falcons

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert caught three of four targets for 38 yards during the team's 22-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran was expected to see a larger target share with star receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) out this week, but depth receiver Britain Covey saw six targets, and backup Grant Calcaterra got involved with a couple of targets of his own. Atlanta's defense is no slouch, but this was an underwhelming fantasy performance for Goedert given the Brown injury. He will look to get more involved next week against a red-hot New Orleans Saints team.
