New York Giants co-owner John Mara says that he doesn't have any regrets about signing quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) last year, even if the team flirted with finding his potential replacement this offseason. Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract last offseason, had two touchdowns and six interceptions while playing just six games because of neck and knee injuries, including a torn ACL in his right knee. The Giants seriously inquired about moving into the top three of this past spring's NFL Draft with their eye on a quarterback, but they'll ultimately kick off the 2024 season with Jones at the helm. While the 27-year-old former first-round pick has gotten the vote of confidence from the front office, he'll need to overcome his shortcomings as a passer to be a viable fantasy option in two-QB leagues this fall. In 2023, Jones did rank fourth at his position with 34.3 rushing yards per game.

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is having his practice participation scaled back as he deals with general tightness in training camp, according to Dan Duggan of the Athletic. It sounds like the former Auburn Tiger does not have a serious injury, but the team is being cautious with him early in the preseason. Slayton entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in 2019, and he has led the organization in receiving yards in four of his first five seasons. However, he has never eclipsed 800 yards, and the team brought in former LSU receiver Malik Nabers to be the clear No. 1 wideout for Daniel Jones in 2024. Jalin Hyatt and Wan'Dale Robinson could also play significant snaps, so Slayton should be viewed as nothing more than a late-round flier or best-ball option heading into his sixth pro campaign.

The New York Giants had their first day of training camp practicing in pads Monday. That meant an emphasis on the run game, which was a reminder that running back Devin Singletary is going to carry a massive workload this season. Behind him, the Giants have 18 career carries from the rest of their RBs. His success will largely be contingent on the offensive line, but the 26-year-old former third-round pick showed well during his second-half surge in 2023 as the Houston Texans' lead back. Over his final nine outings (all starts), Singletary averaged 17.1 carries for 76.6 yards and 2.3 receptions for 16.8 yards with eight total touchdowns from Weeks 10 through 18. The Giants sport what figures to be a bottom-10 offense once again, however, likely limiting Singletary's fantasy upside on a weekly basis, but he should make up for a lack of high-scoring performances with heavy workloads as a volume-based RB2/3 play.

The New York Giants experimented with rookie tight end Theo Johnson in the first-team offense on Monday. It was a fairly uneventful practice, with the Giants installing early-down packages, but that allowed the team to get a closer look at Johnson. New York selected the 23-year-old out of Penn State in the fourth round of this past spring's NFL draft, and he'll compete with Daniel Bellinger in the tight end room for quarterback Daniel Jones' targets in the short and intermediate levels of the field in the New York offense. The G-Men have struggled to find consistent tight end play for almost a decade, and Johnson appears to be in the mix for the starting role. With that said, Johnson's appeal is more pronounced in dynasty setups in the aftermath of Darren Waller's retirement but should see his role grow as the season rolls on.

Fantasy managers in single-year formats shouldn't expect much from Johnson right away, especially with quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) coming off an ACL tear, but he's not a bad dynasty/keeper stash. Johnson will be competing with Daniel Bellinger as the team's top pass-catching tight end in 2024. The Penn State alum didn't put up production that raised eyebrows in college, but he could be a red-zone asset right away because of his 6-foot-6, 259-pound frame.
