Bills Cautiously Optimistic Mitchell Trubisky Avoids Injured Reserve

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is "cautiously optimistic" that quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (knee) will avoid being placed on injured reserve, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. However, the team won't rule anything out until Trubisky is able to practice. Nevertheless, Beane's comments are promising. The same is true of the Bills' decision to release quarterback Ben DiNucci, leaving the Bills with only Josh Allen and Trubisky on the 53-man roster. Buffalo wouldn't enter the season with Allen as their only healthy quarterback, so perhaps Trubisky is trending in the right direction. We should know more within the next week.

Curtis Samuel Seen Practicing On Wednesday

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel (toe) was seen taking part in the practice session that was open to the media on Wednesday afternoon, according to Sal Capaccio of WGR550. This is an excellent sign for the 28-year-old wideout, who is currently questionable entering the opening week of the NFL season. Samuel was diagnosed with turf toe earlier in August and could be ready for Week 1 if he continues to progress well. Head Coach Sean McDermott expressed last week that Samuel "has a real good chance of being back," and this recent report suggests he remains on track to do so. Last season as a Commander, Samuel caught 613 receiving yards with four scores through the air and added one on the ground. Samuel remains an intriguing draft target at his current 129.7 Yahoo! ADP as the Bills wide receiver room lacks a clear No.1 option.

Mike White Signing With Bills Practice Squad

Free-agent quarterback Mike White is signing with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad, per Adam Schefter. White has also been a member of the Jets and most recently, the Dolphins, where he's played 14 regular season games, throwing for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. This will be White's third AFC East team in as many seasons, but as far as a fantasy asset in 2024, White shouldn't be drafted in any format. As a member of the practice squad, White would have to be activated ahead of time if he were to get any action on the field in the event of a Josh Allen and Mitch Trubisky injury. If White does get the opportunity to start, he has looked the part in his limited time on the field.

Mike White Visits With Bills Tuesday

Free-agent quarterback Mike White, freshly cut by Miami on Sunday, visited the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday in search of a spot on their roster. White was a fifth-round pick in 2018 for the Dallas Cowboys, but never suited up for the team. He's also been a member of the Jets and recently, the Dolphins, where he's played 14 regular season games, throwing for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. White would be the backup quarterback at best, but Mitchell Trubisky is also on the roster as he made the 53-man roster. As far as a fantasy asset, White shouldn't be drafted. If he ever gets an opportunity to start, White has looked the part in his limited time on the field.

Bills Letting Go Of Frank Gore Jr.

The Buffalo Bills are waiving running back Frank Gore Jr. (knee) on Tuesday. Gore's 101-yard performance before he went down with a knee injury in Saturday's preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers was not enough to keep him on Buffalo's final 53-man roster. The undrafted rookie will hit waivers and search for a new home as backfield depth, and perhaps other teams saw enough out of his final exhibition showing to give Gore a chance. As for the Bills, it's all set to be rookie fourth-rounder Ray Davis as lead back James Cook's primary change-of-pace back this fall, with veterans Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans providing insulation for the team.
