Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (finger) will miss a second consecutive contest on Thursday versus Phoenix and is considered out indefinitely after undergoing surgery. He suffered a ligament tear in the fifth finger of his left hand versus Charlotte on Sunday. With not long to go until the end of the regular season, it's possible Poeltl is now done for the year. Kelly Olynyk has taken over as the starting center in Toronto. He had 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and two minutes in his first start with the team on Tuesday versus New Orleans.
Toronto Raptors forward Ochai Agbaji (knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Thursday's game against the Phoenix Suns. It's not shocking to see Agbaji on the injury report after he was forced to exit early on Tuesday due to left knee soreness. The Raptors are already without Scottie Barnes (hand) and Bruce Brown (knee) for the time being. That absence of Agbaji would mean even more minutes for Gradey Dick and Jordan Nwora. Between the two, Dick is the player to have rostered with the Raptors banged up right now.
Toronto Raptors forward Bruce Brown (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday's game against the Phoenix Suns. Brown is set to miss his third game in a row due to right knee inflammation. The absence of Brown should mean more playing time for Gradey Dick. Surprisingly, Dick has been playing well and is worth rostering in most deep leagues. He should continue to be valuable with Brown sidelined.
Toronto Raptors guard Ochai Agbaji (calf) won't return to Tuesday's game against the Pelicans. He lasted only 16 minutes, ending the night with three points. With Scottie Barnes (hand) out indefinitely, Agbaji has gotten more involved. The 23-year-old entered Tuesday night coming off a 13-point, nine-rebound effort versus the Hornets on Sunday. Hopefully, Agbaji won't miss much time. But until he's cleared to suit up, Gradey Dick may find himself in the starting lineup.
Toronto Raptors forward/center Kelly Olynyk has agreed on a two-year extension with the team, signing up for a $26.25 million pact, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 32-year-old is coming off a three-year contract that paid him just north of $37 million. Toronto snapped up Olynyk in a trade with Utah last month. He has played eight games with the team, averaging 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals across 20.7 minutes. The versatile Canadian big man is sharing center minutes with Jakob Poeltl in Toronto, but Olynyk will likely make his first start for his new squad on Tuesday versus New Orleans after Poeltl dislocated a finger on Sunday against Charlotte.
