Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (foot) is expected to play on Monday against Charlotte. The 28-year-old had been sidelined for over a month because of a foot issue. But he returned on Friday versus the Hornets, the first of a back-to-back between the clubs, and finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. It still hasn't been reported if LaVine will return to the starting lineup. However, he remains a must-start even if he doesn't, considering there's a good chance he'll play better after shaking off any residual rust on Friday caused by the lengthy layoff.
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (foot) will make his return to the court ahead of Friday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. The star guard is back in the mix after a 17-game absence. That being said, LaVine will have a minutes limit during Friday's game. LaVine has been the center of trade talk lately, so it's unknown how long he'll really remain in Chicago. For the time being, Coby White and Patrick Williams will see decreased roles with LaVine back in the rotation. White has been playing well lately and should remain rostered despite LaVine's return. Fantasy managers in season-long formats can get LaVine back in their lineups on Friday.
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (foot) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. It sounds like the star guard is closing in on a return after missing weeks of action due to right foot inflammation. If he's cleared, LaVine would likely be under a heavy minutes limit for the first few games. His return would mean Coby White and Patrick Williams would take a hit in playing time and fantasy value. Fantasy managers will need to check back ahead of Friday's game for more information on LaVine's status.
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said on Tuesday that there's been no setbacks with guard Zach LaVine (foot) from ramping up his workouts in the last few days. Donovan also "doesn't want to rule out" LaVine from returning as soon as Friday against the Charlotte Hornets, but that it is realistic he will be back within the next week. If LaVine can't get the green light to return on Friday from over a month on the shelf due to inflammation in his right foot, his next possible return date would arrive on Monday for a road rematch with Charlotte. With LaVine out for Chicago's two-game road trip, Alex Caruso remains very much worthy of a roster spot in nine-category fantasy leagues while playing top-100 ball this year. Patrick Williams has also seen a boost in production over 16 games without LaVine, supplying 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 threes per outing on 45.9% shooting from deep.
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan says guard Zach LaVine (foot) will not travel with the team on their current two-game road trip, ruling him out until at least Friday versus the Charlotte Hornets. LaVine was ramping up as of last week as he works his way back from right foot irritation that's kept him on the shelf since Nov. 30. All fantasy managers can do is remain patient with the 28-year-old All-Star, who was netting 21.0 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 triples per game before the Bulls had to shut him down. Chicago has prevented their season from derailing in the meantime, but it remains to be seen if LaVine will remain in the Windy City after February's trade deadline. With Nikola Vucevic (groin) also unavailable for at least the next two nights, DeMar DeRozan and Coby White will be tasked with the heavy lifting offensively. Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams will also continue taking on extended run.
