According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) is expected to be sidelined "at least" a few weeks. However, the team will continue to consult with specialists, and it remains possible that he could miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign. The 24-year-old is having a down season, currently averaging 5.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Unfortunately, he's had trouble staying on the floor and began the season by missing the first 20 games because of a heel injury. Yet, his most recent ailment, a foot injury suffered during Thursday's win over Boston, could mean the end of his season. At any rate, the Lakers may look to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline to fill the void. But if the team doesn't make a deal, Rui Hachimura and Christian Wood could fight for minutes moving ahead.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (ankle) and center Anthony Davis (Achilles) are both active ahead of Saturday's game against the New York Knicks. Both players are back in the mix after sitting out of Thursday's contest. The return of these players means that Jaxson Hayes will head back to the bench. Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) was starting for James, but he suffered an injury during Thursday's game. As a result, Vanderbilt will miss time, which should mean more minutes for Rui Hachimura and Hayes in the rotation. Fantasy managers can get James and Davis back in their lineups for Saturday.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (ankle) is questionable for Saturday's game with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. But the biggest story surrounding the multi-time MVP isn't his health but whether he'll remain a Laker. Recent reports have surfaced suggesting he could be on his way out of Los Angeles. However, his agent, Rich Paul, shot down those rumors, stating, "LeBron won't be traded, and we aren't asking to be." Of course, anything is certainly possible, especially with Los Angeles struggling to remain in the playoff conversation. Yet, as long as James remains on the floor, which has been a challenge over the last few years, he should continue to be a valuable asset for any fantasy manager, no matter what uniform he's wearing moving ahead.
Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis (Achilles) is listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's game against the New York Knicks. Both Davis and LeBron James (ankle) were forced to sit out on Thursday. That resulted in Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) and Jaxson Hayes moving into the starting unit. Sadly, Vanderbilt wasn't able to finish the contest and is now expected to miss multiple weeks. The Lakers would be extremely shorthanded if both Davis and James miss Saturday's game. That being said, Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes could be asked to take on heavy roles. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Saturday for another update on their status.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's game against the New York Knicks. The veteran forward was forced to miss Thursday's game due to an ankle injury. Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) drew the start in his absence, but Vanderbilt wasn't able to make it through the game without getting injured. Now, Vanderbilt is expected to miss time, which means the Lakers could be thin at the forward spot for this game. Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes could be asked to play big roles if James sits out on Saturday.
